of course we started global warming... the globe isn't going to warm itself... and we are the only civilization on the planet that emits any sort of heat energy capable of causing global warming.

Now I haven't followed anything that Al Gore has said concerning global warming... in fact I have no idea what his stand point on the matter is. I just think it is a no brainier that humans are causing it...

Denying it is like saying ice isn't cold...

But how do you explain the multiple ice ages. Wink

We're not the CAUSE of it. But we are likely speeding it up, and exacerbating the situation.

Errr, are you sure, or are you changing your view because nikki makes sense? Honestly, I think you realized that he's probably right and changed your stance because what you said atop this page puts full blame on humanity.

Edit: Sadukar, the earth CONSTANTLY changes its climate. Hell, it even changes the polarity of its poles. It's just a natural occurrence, but I will agree that humanity isn't helping the situation. However, climate change would have happened regardless of our technology. Hell, in the 20th century, there was a concern for global cooling, too.

Shit happens. That's about all there is to global warming. Get an AC when that shit happens. Or, don't, so the national IQ average will rise some more.

Back on topic...

1. People who fake being an idiot for attention.
2. People who ARE an idiot for attention.
3. Hypocrites.
4. People who simply follow what they're told because they're told to do it, instead of actually questioning why they're doing it, and following their own answers.
5. Egotistical people. ESPECIALLY when they have nothing to be proud of.

Yeah, but making it go slower requires:

-Alot of time and energy put into it. That time and energy could be used enjoying yourself, and/or could possibly create aftereffects in itself that'd fuck things up aswell.
-Probably alot of downgrading in technology. Either that, or someone comes up with infinite energy.

I'd rather enjoy my time with a little bit of heat than spend time trying to prevent something that'll happen anyways.

To be honest, it's like wishing for immortality. You get it, but then suddenly, you find yourself 900 years old, a crippled old man, wishing for death.

Ignorance is bliss.

Talking about those that believe in global warming? I agree.

The fact that the earth's climate has changed (and there is proof in ice core samples taken) numerous times only helps to support my view that we are not the cause of global warming. Just because there are industrialized nations while the climate is changing doesn't prove that we are the cause of it. Correlation is not causation.

I never stated HUMANS Caused Global warming (gosh, then my geog teacher would think I'm such a stupid prick) - I was actually calling both of you ignorant.

Humans sped (sp?) up global warming, burning oils, greenhouse gasses, cutting down more trees than we are planting them, etc.

gasses don't magically escape into space without doing damage, and the damage is heat is stored on earth slowly melting ice caps, of course that heat will eventually escape into space but more replaces it.

it's inevitable that a ice age will occur, eventually killing everyone and everything - But for now, recycling, turning off all your plugs in your house before you go out, etc, is basically slowing down this and thus making sure you get to live a full life, and help your children live a full life (assuming you have kids.) you only live once, I share this planet with you - don't be such a prick.

No I did not change my argument at all. I just didn't think that using the word "starting" was any different than saying we "helped it along." I didn't realize the actual argument behind global warming was between us causing it and us helping it along.

I had originally thought that the argument was if global warming existed or it didn't exist. Like I said before, I don't follow along with anything like this, so it would be quite common for me to get mixed up like that.

Now that I know what the dividing argument is, I want to rephrase it in saying it is a no brainer we are helping it along, not that we started it.

EDIT:
cheesesoda wrote on Tue, 24 June 2008 07:52

...what you said atop this page puts full blame on humanity.

Maybe not on global warming but I do believe that humans deserve full blame for a lot of problems on Earth. Humans are like parasites to the planet. They take, take, take, and give nothing in return.

Well, you said the globe isn't going to warm itself which pretty much ignores natural climate change, putting full blame on humanity, but oh well. I'll agree that we certainly aren't helping at any rate.

I just wish we weren't so willing to destroy the earth. I am not a tree hugger, but I do appreciate natural beauty, and we continue to destroy it.
