I had downloaded the installer for Renegade Alert to try it out (duh) but when I double clicked "RenAlert993" it brought up an error message saying "Unable to find the file 'WOLData.key' which contains important data for online playing".
I am very puzzled! I had thought maybe I should download RenGuard and try again. I did and again it didn't work. Though when I start up Renegade which takes me to the Renguard menu it says in the white box "Warning: No WOL name found. Connecting to WOL will probably fail." SO I then thought that I should get a user for the renegade site and not just for online and now I am here... Huh stuck Huh
Anyway words of wisdom? It would be greatly appreciated

You don't install RenGuard in RenAlert/APB's directory. Just so you know, RenAlert is now known as "Red Alert: A Path Beyond" and has had several updates since .993. Check it out at www.apathbeyond.com (and don't install RenGuard into its directory)

I think you need a valid Renegade serial to install A path beyond anyway.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

I DON'T WANT A PATH BEYOND!!!! lol it's the FIRST VERSION I want to install. I have downloaded it I just can't install it because it can't find a WOLData.key. I try to create one using the WOLData file which I thought was the fille RenAlert couldn't find. It then says I can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor and I don't know what on Earth that is...
HEEEEELLLLPPP!!!

No.

Apparently the Serial Changer by v00d00 creates woldata.key if you don't have one. Get it on this page (look for the post by trooprm02): http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=19368&start=25&rid= 3134

I had already tried both versions and it keeps coming up "Error opening woldata.key for write", nothing is being run, but I get the same error over and over =/
I also tried the regedit and I don't even want to mess about with it. I looked up a .key but nothing...

Maybe you should ask on apathbeyond forums as they made the whole thing in the first place.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

I'll check them out, hopefully they can help with the older version. Anyway thanks for the advice (even though it didn't work)! At least you tried!

P.S. I have a friend who has it but he's on holiday atm so I can probably get his help when he get back.
