If anyone else has a PS3 let me know what your user ID is in the thread so we can get a match going sometime, and we can also hopefully get into the PS Home closed beta soon. When I get some extra money flowing through I'll probably buy Burnout Paradise for some online matchups.

My ID is Aircraftkiller

Also post your game list here so we can figure out who can play what with whom.

Assassin's Creed
fl0w
Super Stardust HD
Go Sports Skydiving
High Velocity Bowling (online patch is coming shortly)
Super Rub a Dub

I love my Wii

Almost 1/3 the price, twice the fun. Thumbs Up

If you're going to post the logo, it should probably match the company logo which is gray. It's good that you enjoy it though, otherwise it'd be sad that you spent so much money on it.

Thing is: it wasn't that much money.

You'll find as your child grows that there is a definate lack of games for children on most consoles. One area where PCs still hold reign...

I wanted the PS3 but it would have been an exclusive toy for Dad. The little ones would have been out of luck. Wii allows me to interact with the children.

The high velocity bowling looks alright though. What's the targeted audience?

Assassin's Creed doesn't have MP.

HVB is targeted to everyone. There really isn't any kind of age limit, the characters are detailed and fun to play with, etc... Try reading some reviews on it. For a $9.99 game it's really well built and entertaining.

There's no kid games in the sense of Baby Mario, Mario Party, Mario: Night of the Living Dead Because Mario Has Way Too Many Games, etc... The kind of games you'd want to play with kids would be things like Super Stardust HD (classic arcade action), HVB, fl0w, Super Rub a Dub, etc..

Also the PS3 has parental controls on everything, including internet access (which is how I'm typing this, via keyboard attached to USB) games, movies, photos, music...You can limit them to what you want played.

One last thing: The "wii" is $249.99 or higher depending on where you buy it. Basic PS3 is $399. $149 difference nets you a lot more gaming experience than you'll get with a "wii". But truth be told I'll probably get the next kid oriented console that Nintendo makes because it's all they ever make, and my daughter will be old enough to use games by then.

Would you have bought a Wii if it's graphics were on a par with the PS3's? (All other Wii features as they stand)

It didn't take long for this thread to be derailed.

I really don't care if it's derailed so much as I care that a few people post their PSN ID. And no I wouldn't have bought a "wii" if its graphical power was better. The factors keeping it back for me:

Lack of really good third party games
No HD support (480p is NOT high definition)
Lack of movie playback
Lack of music playback
Horrible online services (friend codes? fuck that)
Huge price for its lack of features
Overall kid-oriented games, which aren't of any use to me right now

Wait, you claim you wouldn't buy a Wii if the graphical power was better, then list lack of HD as a reason why you didn't?

One thing I think we can all agree with however, is that "Friend Codes" suck donkey dick.

High definition support only means that it would output video to HDTV resolution. The graphical power required would likely enable better graphics for developers to create, but knowing Nintendo you'd get HDTV support with NES era graphics.

The major reason I want HDTV resolutions is the time required for a HDTV to upscale 480i/p graphics results in noticable lag on a game, especially like if you were to play Super Smash Bros. Melee on my set. There's a quarter of a second delay in the gameplay versus how you're making input with the controller, which isn't really all that fun.

Actually ontopic...

I can't remember my username, it's either Zion250 or Merovingian, i'll boot up my system and find out tomorrow, or someone who has my nick can tell you.

I own the following games:

Motorstorm
Rainbow Six Vegas
Resistance
Kane and Lynch

Other than that, not much has really interested me.

I will however be getting GTA IV and MGS 4 upon release.

As an owner of all consoles I put the order like so:

  1. PC
  2. X360
  3. Wii
  4. PS3

Personal opinion rules all but thats where I stand.

EDIT: Oh and Oblivion165.

I'd do the fat chick because in the long run she'd be worth it.

Very Happy

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.
