This server has gotten me curious because the other day I was playing on this particular server on the map Under and I found something extremely odd. Long story short, GDI Engineers and Hotwires were attacking us with their Repair Guns--and they did damage!
It wasn't only me, other people in the game were hurt or killed by GDI's repair guns. Is this some type of Server-side mod or something? I thought...well honestly I thought Renegade didn't work that way. I was completely unaware that the server had "modded" the game, if that even.
Anyone care to explain this odd predicament?

its totally possible to do a server side mod that would do that ONLY by editing the .mix (i actually found you can edit ALL the presets server side and have them translate, just not graphicly in the PT, but functionally)
example being...
you can disable the ability to buy nukes, but the client will leave it "available" but not charge, and tell them that that item is not available.
as you can also change all the PT people, but again, the Icon will not update, and the displayed price will not change, but will be correct upon purchase. this was one of the first ideas for sniper server administration, where when they purchased a vehicle, they got a chicken, and when they purchased ... say... a techie, it would make them someone unarmed or something.

Dante, wouldn't this be a good thing for sniper servers, to disable the nukes and everything without making people download something?
It seems like something good to pursue. If anyone can get this working, I'd galdly test it. Just PM or me something.

I always thought that "the cool blue beam" was refering to the Personal Ion Cannon and not the repair gun. Now I understand.
