n00bparty 2008, the second annual n00bfest, will be hosted from June 7-11, 2008 in sunny Phoenix, AZ... at my house! We had a BLAST last year but we are hoping to have even more fun this year!

Click here for details or click here to check out pictures from last year's n00bfest!

We are also planning a UK edition in October for those of you who can't afford to go across the pond.

[Edit: By the way, if you reply saying "oh you should have it in random location that's not Phoenix, AZ" then you are an idiot. Plane tickets are already being purchased and I don't have the budget or the time to arrange a gathering of this sort in another state besides my own.]

I'm the bawss.

Weird date, change it to when the younger folk (high school) actually finish school? In the US and Canada, High School ends June 20+ (here its the 25th), putting it off for a few days means you have potentially alot more people interested...I could potentially could make it, and bring 2-3 people with me that play (1 us, 1 ca)

Everyone I queried in the planning of this event are done with school soon enough to attend on these dates. Like I said already, these dates are set in stone as some people have already purchased plane tickets.

Also, school here is done by the end of May.

Really? Wow, when do they start? August lol? Kids I know from north dakota and maine (or was it rhode island?) both finish mid-june Huh Anyway, money wouldn't be the issue, I'd end up getting my parents to pay for it, but the date is...grad shit in may/june.....unless I can make sure I have nothing during that time period (grad wise, I can miss school nP), I'd be intrested, and ive got a friend who plays who lives in florida who finishes early june that said he would love to go and that he would be able to make it so..

School around here is done by late may, or actually about the 19th for me specifically.

Just saying. That seems to be the average around the country, but yeah, like troop said, I know some people that don't get out for a while longer. Cousin in New Jersey once got delayed to mid July because of all the snow days they had.

Well, those of us who enjoyed last year's n00bparty are eager to get it started again. We have been talking about this year's party since, well, the last one ended. Razz

And yes, our school does start in August. It's only 3 days off from school itself if you have to take a couple days off. We had something like 8 people last year and this year I expect to double it or more.

You're hosting a huge party event for total strangers (it seems you know some), and from the looks of it, covering most costs (outside plane tickets and such), and people call you mean?! Looks like you guys had a blast. No wonder you're fixing to do it all again. I'm partly interested, but money and more specifically time are issues.

As for school, in warmer states (i.e., South and West), school lets out earlier becuase it gets warmer there sooner. In other states, it's the beginning of June that it lets out and the beginning of September that it starts up. Some areas are later than that. Just a tad later may have helped some folks, but if it's set in stone, there's not much that can be done.

Griever92, snikkins, Che, psuedo/Aurora/AuroraX0, luv2pb, DaveGMM. Dave won't be able to make it this year but so far all the others from last year will probably be here. Blazer was there, of course, but he slept a lot because he has sleep apnea but hopefully he'll have that fixed by the time n00bparty 08 gets underway.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Not everything is as it appears
Untouchable
It is Crimson's community and her party. For her to hold the event other places is just dumb. Not to mention she is already going out of her way for this. To expect even more from her is simply arrogant. It is hard enough to work around real world things like jobs. To figure in high school would make it impossible.

Who said Crimson personally had to supervise the UK one? There's an admin of these forums who's British, i guess he could be trusted enough to sort something out for us brits/EU.

We are planning a UK one in October but it's not nearly as finalized as the US one.

By the way, the elevation in Phoenix is a little over 1000 feet, not high at all.
