I know this is not the place to post this but i was hoping you guys could help me out.
I use windows vista and did the proper install according to the 9 step sticky.I have the first decade cd.I also tried reisntalling it a few times

Did you download the TFD patches? If you did, try not downloading them: they seem to give these kind of problems from time to time.
