This thing has been popping up on my computer quite a bit and it's annoying. I don't think there's any kind of patern aside form maybe every 30 mins or an hour it may pop up. Any ideas how to get rid of it.

Just as I wrote this message I thought of deleting the cookies and temp internet files and all so I'll go ahead and try that and see if it helps :/

It's called a pop-up ad. Notice the "Windows Internet Explorer" title on that window.

Want to fix this issue? Enable the pop-up blocker and make it strict, or just switch to Firefox or Opera. That or you can keep getting those annoying pop-up ads. Your choice.

whoa.

Yes, but the thing is it will sometimes pop up when I'm not even using internet explorer. But so far I've been good, so hopefully deleting the temp files fixed it...

I reccomend getting spybot: Search and Destroy, found here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html

It gets rid of most crap. Also, change to Firefox or anything other than internet explorer. Seriously.

That is a nasty piece of virus/adware. I got it last time and if I'm not wrong, its called Smitfraud-888 or something along that line. You should use Spybot, although it didn't help me when this one infected my comp. I had to reformat though I hope you won't have to.

Well I have Opera, Firefox, and IE. I mostly use Opera. Maybe I'll completly uninstall IE. And I have spybot. I always keep the immunization pretty up to date. I haven't scanned with it yet tho so I'll go ahead and do that.

Edit: I just remembered, I also have goback from my school installing it onto our computers... If i reverted back to a previous time before it, that could get rid of it, right?

I don't think it is a pop-up related to the use of IE. That title bar is most likely a trap to get you to believe it is a pop-up when you first look at it.

You would then go and put up a pop-up blocker, but the message would still come up, thus eliminating that from the victim's mind and getting them one step closer to actually believing it is a real Windows message.

Obviously it isn't, Windows would never advertise any 3rd party software. They don't even advertise 1st party software from Microsoft..

Have you done a simple virus/Adware/spyware scan?

Yeah, I've scanned with Ad-aware and I've done a boot scan with avast.

Edit: I am currently scanning with Spybot and so far it has found that "SmitFraud-C."

Edit2:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/bisen11/scan.jpg

Ok, hopefully that got rid of it.

It's not a simple popup, check the other posts. I'm pretty sure as well that it's spyware, but I'm afraid it might be a tough one to get rid of.

To avoid getting this kind of stuff, I recommend you not to visit unknown pr0n and warez sites.

Yeah, only visit the well known and trusted illegial sites!

Also, I had a similar virus once, where it kept putting this BS icon on my desktop. Also put itself on my taskbar, and wouldn't go away, and really slowed down my computer. Made a bunch of popups. Went through about 4-5 different anti-adware/spyware things, and eventually SpyBot: Search and Destroy got it rid of it. But, it got rid of my desktop and taskbar along with it. So now I gotta use Task Manager to run things Sad. Hope you don't have a similar problem.

TL;DR: VIRUSES FUCKING SUCK.

Stupid websites with bad advertisement automatically redirect you to that that website and you get said pop up.

Nothing to worry about, just delete your temp Internet files, and adjust your pop-up blocker to be more strict.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Try running exporer.exe through the task manager.

Doesn't work- But I can atleast type in C:\ and it opens the explorer part. I can live without desktop and taskbar, anyways.

I had this, but it was on Windows Anti-Virus, a rogue program. This is so annoying though, one reason I got NOD32.

also try spyware doctor, if you ask me its better that spybot s&d but its not free. or atleast not free legally check torrents for it or something if you are interested. i have been using it for a while now and even though i got to use it first as an illegal copy it proved to me that it is worth paying for.

actually i like alot of the pccillin software, like spyware doctor and the full pccillin center with firewall antivirus and all that stuff. imo these two are worth paying for.
