help cant uninstall [message #316088]

Recruit

ive got a problem thats not letting me reinstall renegade because i had a bit of a problem with running the game so i decided to re install it so i blindly went to my computer and deleted renegade forgetting that there was an uninstall program inside and now i cant re instal ren and i dont have the cd since i was worried of losing it i put the contens on my computer and se iso to load it to disk drive. PLZ HELP WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Renalpha, this is totally out of place in a tech support forum. Warning +1.

To topic starter, it's hard to comprehend what you write. You're Australian, so I suppose English is your mother tongue?

If I'm right, you deleted the ren folder instead of using the uninstall program. You will need to clean out your registry manually or by using a program like registry cleaner. I can't check the exact registry lines here at the moment as ren isn't installed on this computer.

I'm not sure if you're saying you have or don't have the disc. I think you have the iso and u load the image with a program like daemon tools? If so, you could probably also simply explore the disc and run setup.exe. This way you should be able to force the installer to run and then you can reinstall in a different directory.

I'd go for the registry cleaner and then retry installing. I hope this helps you.

run regedit and browse to the following keys & delete them:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Renegade.exe]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WOLAPI]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Renegade ]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Westwood] - note that the ren key here also holds various game options so exporting them first might be desired.
finally perform a search of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive for any keys/values or data containing the string wolapi or wolapi.dll (simply go to the first folder in the registry's tree view and hit ctrl+f, next enter the search string, make sure all the checkboxes are on and hit enter for each search

After this, reboot your comp and it should be safe to install ren
