Man, that would suck big time if it affects me since I am wired to the internet. It is my emotional drug.

EDIT

Man, how one small ship's anchor has the power to bring nations to a standstill!

The locations where many of the recent cable cuts have occurred (China, Pakistan, Palestine/Egypt, and now Iran) is highly suspicious. I suspect that the U.S. intelligence community is using a sub to tap into the fiberoptic line to capture all of the data. Unlike copper lines, they probably can't splice into glass fiberoptic lines without breaking the circuit for a while.

1) Cut the line somewhere roughly, so it clearly looks like an accident
2) Somewhere else far away, splice into the line using a sub, so the NSA can capture all the data (or even potentially alter it in transit)
3) Let the commercial communication providers fix the obvious break
4) Profit! (at least in terms of intelligence gathering and cyber-war capability

If that is the reason, what is the point? Isn't the point of the data being transfered across the ocean to get it from one side to the other? What is the point of intercepting it if it is coming at you anyway?

It is the same thing as catching the ball thrown by your own team and calling it an interception, in American Football.

Get the fuck out of here. They have already confirmed via satellite that it was NOT SHIP ANCHORS that cut the cables...so what the hell was it then? Sea weasels? Something is happening.

I don't know what it was, and I'm okay with not knowing, because I don't expect myself to know everything.

But somehow, I can't accept the whole "It's a conspiricy! The government did it!" option. That kind of thinking is akin to the ancient Greeks thinking Zues causes Lightning. "We can't think up a way this would happen, so we'll blame it on a higher power/authority/something we don't understand!"

Calling it a government conspiracy is one thing, but 4 of these lines cut within such a short period of time?

It COULD not be a coincidence. It COULD be a government conspiricy. Zues COULD really be in charge of making lightning. It's possible, right?

But probably not.

I am not sure why people immediately brand the actions of the government that are done in secret as a fucking "conspiracy."

The word "conspiracy" is the most overused and abused word; it is being taken for granted.

For all I can tell clearly without any doubt, the United States military has the Middle East by the ball sacks. They have always had. No one is going to do something like this without the US and or the US Navy not knowing about it.

The US military have round-the-clock fighter jet patrols, AWACS aircraft constantly monitoring the airspace, unmanned drones flying along the Iranian coasts, Carrier battlegroups, attack submarines and I suspect even Ohio class nuclear missile subs.

Elite Navy SEAL teams are attached to several attack submarines in mini-subs. These SEALS are trained in a variety of specialities including sabotage of ships, oil rigs, underwater pipes and cables and a whole shitload of fireworks and uncanny expertise (they are after all the best soldiers on the planet).

Hell, I am sure Israeli submarines may also be lurking off the Iranian coast.

Not a single fucking wooden boat is going to sneak by without some Western (American) military unit not knowing about it.

EDIT: Oh I forgot the B1-B Lancer supersonic bombers that are on a 24/7 station carrying a shitload of bombs ready to flatten any building within 60 minutes of an order.

Cable #5 is now cut:
http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticle.asp?xfile=data/theuae/2008/February/t heuae_February155.xml&section=theuae

Anyone who still thinks this is an "accident" or "coincidence" needs their head examined. Some shit is going down, and we probably won't know who or what until it's too late.

Ask yourself why Britney Spears leaving the hospital is headline news but no mention of any of this shit!

This map shows where the cable cuts have occured:

That's pretty farstreched, Iron.

Even a small mini-sub is damn expensive. Also improvishing a one-time use submarine and guide it towards the exact location of the cables without any advanced navigating devices is too hard to believe.

I am sure this is not the work of terrorists as terrorists pride themselves on their media image and media assests. Yep, terrorists have giant websites with forums (all closely monitored).
