At some point only one thing existed that created everything else, be it matter or divine being.

Wow...I didn't know you could travel that far back in time in order to qualify you to state that as a fact Smile

I believe, that we do not have enough understanding of time or space in order to even attempt to predict what did or did not exist eons before we came into being. It is a common misconception that humans have "almost figured out" how the universe works, but the fact is we don't know squat, as nearly everyday as we delve deeper into quantum physics, and build stronger and stronger space telescopes, we discover things that fly in the face of our current science.

For the record, I believe the same goes for God. Nobody knows what, who, where, or when, "God" is, thus the only thing they have is "faith", which is what causes all the argument between those of faith and those of science. For all we know, "God" could be "all of us", as in, the collective consciousness and life force of all living things. Or, we could just be the equivalent of microbes on a spec of sand lost amongst the beach of the universe (note that we do not even really know what the universe consists of), with no divine past, and no forseeable future.

So I'd say, believe whatever you want, if it makes you happy. But never forget that we don't really know what is going on. Do we get the answer when we die? That's a whole other can of worms.

Heh, I qualified it as a fact simply because some'thing' had to exist first in order for some'thing' to even exist at all. Simple logic.

Without you existing, you would not exist. Without matter existing, matter would not exist Wink

As for the rest of what you said, I agree. That is my stance as well.

This is really a huge debate, which could takes years for both sides to meet half way. IMO, you believe what a Roman book tells you, about their way of lifestyle etc. If you can believe that, then you can believe the Bible, most of which, is 1900 years old.

I don't like to believe in a supreme being like a god or anything.. however I do like the concept of heaven/hell.

Simply because so many concepts can be drawn from it. (I like anime so something like Trinity Blood which is centered around religion and vampires..)

I would much rather resign myself to the thought of never living after death rather than the possibility of eternal hell fires. Being one who reads the bible quite a bit, for the educational purposes, you come to learn very fast that you can get yourself into hell quite easily.

I agree, Blazer. I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting "I don't know" in discussions like these, because none of us really "know".

I don't think I follow any religions, but I do follow some Chinese customs and superstitions which are connected to some gods. Would that be considered culture or religion?

Eh, if you don't actually believe in the gods, but just do it for the sort of uhh, ''ambiance'' or ''fun'' of it, then its more a ritual than a religion or cultural benefit.
