That doesn't look like ingame...At least judging by what Renegade looks like now. Seems to be an artist's impression sort of drawing.

But it says "Actual screen shot" down in the corner there.

I bet just the area is the screen shot. The characters, vehicles, and shadows where probably drawn in there.

If you are using firefox, right click on the non-clickable link, and then click "view image"

It wasn't working for me either when I first came into the thread.

i use IE 6 or 5 or whatever installs with XP Pro

i right clicked it nd clicked save target as then looked at it then

I think it was simply a high-detail render.

They didn't say "actual screenshot" of what- So my assumption is that it's an "actual screenshot" of a concept render.

Its real at least I believe if you ever watched the beta videos it looked a lot nicer then renegade does now.

To anyone who is saying that Renegade looked better before, uh...no. Most of the beta models aren't that great, and the textures are god-awful. I'm glad they redid most of them.

I gotta say I like the way the sniper rifle looks in these pics, though that could have been the ramjet Rocked Over

The shadows (for dynamic objects) look like soft shadows. The other stuff aren't that interesting.
Maybe someone could come up with a shader that generates soft shadows.

From those screenies, it looks like Renegade was going to have:

Dynamic shading/lightning/whatever
More sky effects
Mannable gun turrets (That show your character using it)
Corpses that stay there instead of disapearing

In exchange for:

Shitty texture quality
Shitty model quality

Ugh.
