It was meant as the non-mod lock, and therefore, they were posted so the topic WOULD get locked.

Then everyone else caught on and started being douchebags with it, just like anything else that's funny.

Remember cat pictures? They used to be hilarious, until every 11 year old idiot who illegially downloaded photoshop from utorrent while learning how to masturbate using a guide also downloaded from utorrent started posting them.

Same situation here.

How I look at it, Plecos and quote pyramids were used by a lot of people to end a useless topic that would need to be locked anyway. A lot of which were just useless topics made by Rocko or Ferkhat, and since moderators don't always arrive on time on these forums, people would just post Plecos to kill the thread.

There is a "report" option, whereas if a couple of people requested a thread be locked or that a moderator look at it, would do the trick. There is no need to post huge pictures in order to "stop" a lame thread from continuing. That would be like your mom coming in and taking a dump on your pillow to convince you to clean your room.

Also, if you want pics posted in the spam section maybe you should set it up so you can post pics like normal.

?
Not sure whatcha mean there man...the spam forum has the same (lack of) restrictions on posting pics as the other forums currently have, and from looking at the spam forum, nobody is having a problem posting pics there?

[HUGE PICTURE OF BROWSER WINDOW REMOVED BY MODERATOR]

1. Yes there is an ignore button, but we are just supposed to ignore everyones complaints about the spam and just tell them to ignore it? For fucks sake 2 days ago a poll was started by people complaining that the mods were not doing enough to remove spam, and now you are complaining that stopping the spam is oppressive?

2. How clever of you to post a giant (1280x968) picture of your browser. I know you are just hoping I will ban you for it so you can say that it was unfair because the picture was about the topic at hand, I have half a mind to do exactly that, but I try not to feed the emos.

I commend the Administration for finally waking up and kicking ass. This is a fun forum with relaxed rules but there should be a line.

Good job, Blazer and Crimson. Thumbs Up

Note that I reduced Canadacdn's ban back down to 1 day, but now he is trying to ban evade by creating multiple accounts, which is an attack and against the rules, so I may extend it back out to week again if he doesn't stop. Razz

People complain about stupid topics that should be locked anyway, but maybe instead of posting idiotic pictures, they should just ignore those topics, and not keep them alive.

Seeing bullshit in the 'Hot-Topics' area miffed me, because there were some discussions in there that were pretty good, and got ruined by a couple of retards.

I'll be happy to see less idiocy in the future. Smile

The forum spamming seems limited to general discussion and hot topics, though. I suppose most spammers don't visit the other forums?

Anyway, good initiative.

I've lost count of how many times i've used the 'report' button to get a thread locked because it was either created by an idiot who was just trying to increase his e-penis or because it was just spam created by a troll. Not once did I see any of the reported threads locked.

To the topic at hand, it's about time that the admins/mods actually did something useful to stop the spam.

The report option works...when a mod or admin logs in, there is a bright red indicator that will not go away until the report is read and deleted. Maybe there is a rogue mod who just deletes them all Surprised

Hey, instead of banning the people who try to rid of stupid topics/arguements in topics, why not ban the people who start those stupid topics/arguements/whatever in the first place?

Such as:

Rocko
Troop
Surth

And other people who pretty much only troll the whole fucking time. I'd say trolls are alot more annoying than spammers.
