I couldn't care less about the news in the next town over, let alone New Zealand.
And even so... why should I? The only news I need to know is about anything that relates to me and where I live. If you watch the news for any other reason, it becomes entertainment.
I mean look at those Michael (spelling?)Jackson trials... those pissed me off so much. So what if your kid was 'molested' by Jackson,it has no effect on me at all, short of having that much less to watch on TV.
Anyway my point is: why should I care about news in New Zealand?
edit: On a somewhat related ignorant note, I always thought Everest had never been scaled... guess that goes to show you my standings in this matter...
