	| My iPod Nano of over two years has lost the left side of its sound, and I want a newer, better player for non-work use.
I don't use iTunes, and generally speaking, I don't want anything to do with Apple anymore. The Zune is cool, but I think it's retarded that it doesn't synchronize with WMP 11, but I'll still be willing to consider it.

However, can anyone recommend some other players? I'm looking for something with at least 8 GB, seeing as my collection is about 30 GB (all bought btw
). I'm not looking for fancy features, but I want something that has excellent sound when paired with $200 plus headphones. Plus, it's a bonus if the battery is replaceable, and the player is durable.
If I can get some testimonials, that'd be great; and for what it's worth, the music I listen to is mainly hard rock, in the vein of Van Halen, Def Leppard, and hair metal, so I don't need anything that's all that bass heavy, but rather sounds great across the spectrum.

 Thanks

	| If you've got the money, I suggest the Creative Zen Vision:W. My brother has it, and it's a fantastic player. I have the Vision:M myself, but I'd like to own a W sometime in the future. Actually, generally any Creative player would be a great choice, save for the Microphoto (my sister has had two break in the exact same way, but that could be her own fault).

the vision M is very good, has 30 or 60 gig, and not too expensive

	| IMO, SanDisk is a top name for MP3 players. I have a Sansa c140. I had the option of buying the next model with the built-in rechargeable battery but I hate rechargable things; I prefer only battery powered.
Anyway, the wheel is kinda of like a toy; it got a little loose and makes a slight plastic noise when used but I get awesome sound quality. It's a no-hassle player. Not that I am recommending it, it's old.

But yeah, SanDisk FTW! They got a range of good players.

	| Don't buy second hand or a player that isn't packaged, as a common trick-of-the-trade is to format something low capacity like a 1 gig player to an eight gig. This looks all fine until after a while. Corrupt government in a mp3 track. Ever formatted a low-density floppy to a higher density?

	| I'm bumping this because I never got around to buying a new player. I'm one of those morons who sits on the fence waiting for something newer and better.
Anyhow, I'm to headed to the States for a day to do some shopping this week so I'll pick one up then. Just wondering if there were any more opinions/suggestions.

wow! I am in exaclty the same position! My dad gave me a Sansa c150 for Christmas in 2006! And I still have it and it works great but the battery cover hinge broke and I have a rubberband around it lol...

I would like to have a new mp3 player as well but I am very allergic to expensive stuff and I dislike rechargable stuff....

Where you are coming to States?
