Well, the guys who used to host Roleplay2.com (and my personal site, slikrik.com) decided it was too much work to keep their service running, and now I'm out of a hosting package.

So guess what, I need more hosting...

Now I have been looking around myself for new hosting, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with hosting companies and would recommend someone. (If recommending, give a couple good reasons why.)

The last guys I had hosted it for free (with almost a professional quality, in terms of disk space, bandwidth alotment, FTPs, MySQL databases, etc), so of course I'm looking for another free host, but not that official free hosting crap that has all sorts of limitations and ads galore. (I am forever done with that shit.) Unfortunately, I know that this is VERY hard to come by. So while I prefer free (who doesn't?), I'm willing to put up some cash for this, but not craploads.

Thanks for your help.

I have http://bl4ckdmon.gleebot.com that I hardly use, Gotzow can tell you how fast the download speed is, uptime is pretty much 24/7 (or until my friend dave doesn't pay the bill Razz )

http://bl4ckdmon.gleebot.com/forum

It's pretty good for a free service I got, I only use it to host porn and some important files that I'll need after I format.

If you want to leech some add me on msn (msn in on my profile) and I'll get you the ftp info.

I don't offer a domain so you'll have to buy that yourself and redirect it to the server's IP, But I can get you a database if needed. Smile

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

If you want something decent, then u'll have to pay yourself. You just can't trust/expect other people to continue paying their bills.

You can get some really cheap ones that still deliver good quality. I don't know any in the US, though.

And Ryu, there's nothing to test download speed on (and I don't need pr0n, tx).

I hate my town. Goztow lives across the fucking channel and gets 400KBPS, I get 250 because the local exchange could be knocked down by a stick.

Grr.

And I live in one of the worst broadband countries... We have limits of 12 gigabytes per month for 40 euro connections...

You get what you pay for, but I would suggest bluehost if you're not looking for absolute reliability. Their basic package which starts at like $6/mo offers you like 3TB of transfer, 300GB of HDD space, and plenty of other shit that you probably won't need. The only problem is that they aren't the most reliable servers.

whoa.

I recommend HostGator

This is the first and only webhosting company that I have been with that Game-Maps.NET is using and the support that I have got from the staff and normal users have been awesome, so much am pretty much a reg on the forums each day.

They have some great deals.

Plans-Shared Server

I guess, you don't need much, a hatching plan, would give you 350GB space, 3000GB bandwidth for 4.95 USD per month, make sure you read the TOS though.

Game-Maps.NET will carry on being hosts for your mod, so, players can still download the mod and what not, aslong they know the website. Smile

If you need a new forums, MP-Gaming might be able to help, contact Oxi or Reborn.

If you do decide to use hostgator, please click our hostgator banner on our website. Smile Smile Smile

We're fine with the forums, and thanks for hosting the map.
