Nod32 is beyond 1337, it's like the best anti-virus out there.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

I use Norton 360, I feel safe with it, but I only turn it on when I need to do a check, having it forever on, lags your system to crap.

So, once a week or month is alright for me. Big Grin

I think I have the best Anti Virus software out there; a fucking brain.

Get one, it'll improve your computer's performance, you wont have to waste time installing anti virus software and, best of all, you wont even get viruses. Pretty fucking awesome, isn't it?

I don't even know how to get viruses.

By...going to the internet. Retard. Your brain won't help you if your motherboard BIOS died because of a virus attack.

You can't get a virus by going on the internet. The only way to contract a virus is either by an exploit in the operating system you are running, or by running an executable that contains a virus.

Don't BS, if you keep windows up to date and don't use IE and you are behind a router its impossible to exploit.

All that windows is so insecure crap is way passed. The current XP is pretty damn hard to compromise. Most virusses are spread by social engineering anyway.

Maybe the FBI should use Windows XP, update it and stay behind a router. Prehaps that will stop them from being exploited.

Nothing is impossible to exploit.

TS probably got exploited somewhere on a malicious site. Now its attaching itself to executables, nothing to worry about as it has nothing to do with APB. I would recommend using a different Anti-Virus though.

But theres always a way to connect to a computer. Otherwise we would have the perfect OS or the perfect Firewall. No such thing exists and will never exist. Everything is expliotable.

Just because the average joe can't do it doesn't mean it cannot be done.

I think what Ghost means is that the most secure PC is one that doesn't have an internet connection. When AVG warned me I had some sort of downloader virus which was trying to download stuff, I pulled the network cable out. No matter how well written the virus is, if there's no i'net connection and it wants to download, it can't.

If thats what he means then I agree. Otherwise I stand by what I said earlier.

What I mean is this: for a virus to communicate with your PC (IE infect) there needs to be either a listening or a connecting socket. A connecting socket is what we usually use to open web pages and such. Its hard to infect through unless theres an exploit in the program using the connecting socket.

The real vulnerability lies in listening sockets. Those accept connections from other PC's. Most of the automatically spreading virusses go through these and the specifically 2 windows components.

One is windows DNS server (which somehow is on by default, but is easily secured by your routers firewall), and the other is RPC (which needs to be on, but can also be secured by your routers firewall).

Funny thing is that all those software firewalls don't protect these 2 services properly because they can't properly block the socket acceptance.

The real problem with a PC is like someone else already pointed out the user behind it. Don't open suspicious executables, or other files, block ActiveX if your use IE, and if you use any other browser make sure you stay up to date. Oh and the occasional virus scan is nice too.

You're not running all those at once are you? If you are, that's probably one of the worst things you can do.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure it's a bad practice to run multiple anti-virus at once.

Maybe it took a look at the program and said, "wait a sec, this looks like a remote connection tool, thats bad news" and reported it as a trojan.
