Cartoons and Anime are 2 different things. Yes they are made the same, but Anime is more specific in how it is made, what goes into it, drawing style, also many people say that it has to be from Japan, but I don't believe that. (Afro Samurai, Avatar, Teen Titans)
It all depends on your tastes. If you just say you don't like Anime and that is it, than you're not being truthful.
By saying you don't like any and all forms of Anime is exactly the same as saying I don't like to watch TV. Which may be true in some cases, but in this case I don't think so.
However, I think your basing your argument off of cartoons made in English, like Loony Toons, Tom and Jerry, Spongebob, ect. Those are COMPLETELY different. The only similarities is that they are made with drawings... that is about it..
And you also said, to which I already responded, "Cartoons for adults, grow up"
So what about Cartoons like Family Guy, South Park, The Simpsons, King of the Hill?

I guess you're right, anime is a art style Japanese style, not animations made in Japan.

But uh... I'm guessing the big eyed basic "Power Puff Girls" style and the complex "FLCL" like style are both different types of anime?

Anime is not all for kids. Not even Naruto Shippuuden is for kids. There's alot of adult themes in it. For instance, here is part of the subtitles of one of the epidodes I downloaded:
Naruto: He attacked me when I was with Shikimaru's team a while ago!
Yamato: Knock it off Naruto-kun.
Yamato: Since you guys are on the same team, it'll cause alot of problems if you don't get along.
Naruto: Same team as him?! (points at Sai)
Sai: I'm Sorry about before. I wanted to know how strong you were, since we're on the same team.
Naruto: You didn't have to go that far.
Sai: Thanks to our little encounter, I learned you're a useless, dickless pantywaist.
Naruto: WHAT WAS THAT YOU ASSHOLE?!

anime is excellent
well not all, you cant say its all good or all bad. think about any series, can you say all comedy is good? can you say all action films are good? can you say any romance films are good?
my favorites are naruto, bleach and full metal alchemist (which i am watching as i type)
go anime channel (199 sky uk)

Some anime is good, some is bad. Just like some cartoons are good and some are bad. Or shows with real actors. I wouldn't base my decision on just the way they choose to tell the story :/ .
It's also how I really dislike poetry, but not all is bad.

I like One Piece, Hellsing and Noir but i'm not that guy running in circles and counts the seconds to the next episodes... The stories from are sometimes pretty amazing.... but indeed i also hate most other animes like naruto, dragonball etc...
