What do you prefer to use for mapping?

RenX, Gmax, 3DS Max 8, or something else? Smile

Same. I use Renx. And stupid 3DS9 doesn't support the Renegade W3D utilities...

I use RenX because, imo, it's simpler. But I do plan on transfering to Max8.

Am new to mapping, do you think I should stay with RenX first or just bite the bullet and use Max 8?

Both, imo, I'm not a mapper, but there is some really cool stuff in RenX so, use both,(3ds for the terrain).

Although I'm not a full-time mapper, I'd recommend starting with RenX as it's simpler. Jumping straight into Max8 would just confuse the f*ck out of you, as it did me. Razz

I agree, start with RenX first then move to Max once you feel more confident.
