When I click "shut down" thats what I get instead of the 3 buttons I usually do.

This likely has to do with catalyst drivers installing .net, and then me swtiching video cards, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, is there a way to get the normal 3 button prompt back without a format + xp reinstall? Would be nice...

Help appreciated as always...I've looked everywhere, and can't find no solid info on this problem. So, you guys are the last hope I have before a format. And, since I seem to be able to find solutions to problems in the renegade forums that I can't find anywhere else, my hopes are high. Smile

1. Wrong section should be in "other" and 2. I don't really see any problem here that is what is supposed to be there pretty sure.

He means the icons Windows usually presents. It's no big deal, that still allows you to turn off your computer... rofl. I do know how to fix it, I'd just have to find it again.

It is because you installed Framework .net. I do remember fixing this problem myself a few months ago but at the moment I cannot think of it. I'll post back once it comes to mind.

The .NET Framework will not cause that problem. Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off, and check the 'Use Welcome Screen' checkbox.

Everytime I install .Net Framework it changes my windows logoff screen.

That was it, I couldn't remember where it was other than "User Accounts".

The .NET Framework is a set of libraries required for the CLR; it should not affect anything else. Make sure you are not installing any extras with the framework and that you only get it from MSFT's website directly. Else, I suggest you submit a support request to MSFT regarding this problem if it persists so they can create a hotfix.

Go to user accounts, "change the way users log on and off"

Check "use fast user switching' and " use the welcome screen"

The welcome screen is the screen when you turn on your PC, it says loading windows, and it shows your user icons, then when logging off/shutting down, it will show the 3 buttons rather than a list.

This may or may not have anything to do with .framework, but it might have changed your settings, it can be easily changed back, my computer for school I recieved had the same annoying problem, so I went searching on my own and found out you can chaneg it from a busienss type layout, to a normal home layout.

Yeah, that did the trick. Your a hero. Even tough I feel stupid now.

It was badly annoying, because on top of the prompt when I shut down, when I used ctrl+alt+del it would pop up a prompt with six options instead of just opening the task manager...lame.

Thanks again.
