Hiya, welcome back.
Renegade is still ownage as awalys.
There are many servers and mods for it, but please don't fall into the a00 server trap, move around and see if you can find a nice community. 
Did you ever play RA2?, if so, you might enjoy A Path Beyond, the FPS version of RA2.
If you wish to play that, click this Game-Maps.NET - APB Download and come join. 
At the same website, you will find lots of downloads for Renegade adn APB, skins, maps, things like that.

Renegade is great on most servers, ownage on some, and terrible on a few (UNRules, anybody?). Assuming you find the right servers to play on (Or rather, avoid the wrong servers), you'll have a fantastic time.
Oh, and IronWarrior, A Path Beyond is a RA1 mod. The RA2 mod is called "Apocolypse Rising".

APB is a mod based on RA (Red Alert), not RA2. Apocalypse Rising is the RA2 mod, which isn't even finished yet.

APB is fun, and if you have higher end machines, you can turn on SHADERS, which the scripting god made happen on this OLD engine. Get the scripts 3.4.1+, they have better graphics than 2.9xxx

Latest version of the custom scripts.dll here. If you have a decent DirectX9 or even X10 hardware graphics card, turn on bloom and shaders.

, SO my question is how is renegade doing these days? Do alot of people still play,are there many servers up? I miss the good old days on renegade and would want to get back into it if its worth while.
