OK, I'm running a script to fix the problem with the table that's out of whack. Instead of having one big downtime, it will be divided into tiny chunks of downtime over a long period of time. What that means is that every few seconds a page load will take a little longer than usual. You might notice it a little slower overall, but once all the bad rows are finally deleted I hope that backups will take a fraction of the time and be less noticeable. Then, I will be on to Phase 2.
