Cabal has a bunch of people hooked up to him which is probably why he's smarter. And he also got ioned and started malfunctioning in Ren so that may have contributed to his rebelling.

Cabal though not in the renegade timeline does have some voicing in always.dat that is unused, and kane being constantly cloned after dying each game......you know someone is doing it, either a bunch of kane's in a secret underground clone base, or cabal himself.

Actually, the damaged CABAL prototype talks over the PA system in the last singleplayer mission of Renegade. Also, Kane doesn't actually die in Tiberian Dawn, as they mention his body was never found. It's also why he has that facial disfigurement in Tiberian Sun, wears a mask over that part of his face, and uses on-the-fly video enhancement to hide it.

So if nod and gdi were fighting off cabal in tiberian sun firestorm...why the heck is the leader of nod (kane) working with cabal? I know kane wasnt around in the time of firestorm, but this makes no sense.

Kane can't die.. even the end at Firestorm doesen't matter..

Kane travels through time with his skillz..
He didn't die in dawn, nor in ra or sun and heck.. dying in cnc3.. even if it would seem he does, (i cant tell.. im just guessing from previous games) he will return in the next game as ultimate as ever.
