We didn't do much? We were your number one supplier of war material(lend lease)...you know...the stuff that allowed you to fight Hitler(this is not even mentioning the First World War) and kept him from squashing you like every other European country (principally naval resources). It was "your" war because you let it brew right in your own back yard....England and France pressed the Versailles Treaty because of hatred and revenge...and then appeased the madmen that resulted from it when they started on their warpath.

Uh, no. As soon as the "warpath" started (the invasion of Poland), we declared war pretty much immediately (on the same day, I think?). Sticking up for our friends and allies, see? Whereas the US hung around on the sidelines for a good two years. Even after Pearl Harbour was bombed, you still didn't declare war on Germany. They declared war on you.

America took so god damn long to get into World War 2 for political reasons, end of. Neither of the Presidential candidates dared it. We didn't care about that, our friends and allies were attacked so we jumped into the fray. America can't claim that.

I wouldn't say the warpath started with Poland...what about the Rhineland, Austria, and Czechoslovakia? Of course we didn't declare war on Germany...they hadn't provoked us(though we did have skirmishes on the North Atlantic...which strangely enough was because of the material we were shipping to your country).

Frankly I don't blame the US for taking so long to jump into the conflict with our friends and allies, we "jumped" into another conflict 20 years earlier...and all we got was the flu, a thank you card, and another war.

.besides we developed the MRLS without YOUR help

What? From what I understand it was developed jointly with several nations.

Quote:

YOUR government isn't perfect....have a look at the American War in Vietnam......

You're right, our government isn't perfect, I will never claim it is. Vietnam was one of those circumstances where we jumped "into the fray" to help our allies.

Just a quick quip... yes, Britain and France declared war on Germany after Poland's invasion, but little was done. They don't call that period the 'Phony War' for no reason. It was generally when Atlantic trade was interrupted by the Germans, that the party got started.

Remember too, that Germany's belligerence was often secretly welcomed by America, and England. A powerful Germany, governed by a fierce anti-communist, meant that the country would become a powerful economic power, and trading partner.

And another thing... America declared war on the Axis, because Germany was trying to coerce Mexico to invade the United States, in order to distract America from affairs in Europe. Hitler knew that if America were to enter the war, it would turn the tide. It wasn't just Pearl Harbour that brought the Americans in.

How humiliating.

I think you completely missed the point. My point wasn't slating America for that, it was a jibe to the multitude of retarded, arrogant Americans who say things like "you'd be speaking German if it wasn't for us" every time they're losing an argument with a European. It makes me think America is the one country that hasn't gotten over World War 2, sometimes. If retards like that want to see a true example of selfless action to help an ally, they should look to the nation they love to bitch at for being spineless: France, the country that bailed them out.

That would be ignorant, though... it's surely a minority.

Spoony has completely cracked the point through. As for the health care system argument you are either going to pay more taxes or have a shitty system it's as simple as that. Health insurance is another matter but I simply don't know enough about it to comment (That Michael Moore film does NOT mean I know anything about it...). Also notice how I am intending not to comment about things I know nothing or very little about perhaps some others should consider doing the same...

This argument can't be settled.

So it'll be easier to do this.

Canada > UK & USA.

The French didn't help us until we defeated the British at Saratoga. That started to change the tide of the war. I am confident in saying that we could have won without the French. We couldn't have won as easily, but I feel we would have without the French.

As far as regarding them as spineless, I still feel that way about the French. Just because they may have helped us back 200-something years ago doesn't mean that things haven't changed. Things obviously have. We've become the world's largest superpower.

Jake....honey I love you, but most the world looks down on your leaders because your leaders have never let the world forget they exist. The USA claims to be the worlds ONLY superpower. If that is in fact the case then of course every other country will critise you/your leadership it's what happens when people get elevated on to pedestals, just don't look down you'll be ok.

I've lived in the USA and I currently live in the UK and I can firmly say BOTH GOVERNMENTS SUCK!

NEXT STOP CANADA.

As for UK > US

People from the US think that English people are all TALLY HOE and Mary Poppins with bad teeth. OMG U CAN'T SPELL WHY DO YOU PUT U IN NEIGHBOR AND LABOR

People from the UK think Americans are all inbred rednecks with bad education and worse knowledge of life.OMG YOU CANT SPELL WHY DONT YOU PUT U IN NEIGHBOUR AND LABOUR

They are called stereotypes.....give each other some credit. The world is more diverse than that!

I hate America coz I had a really poor experience there and it just brings back bad memories and feelings so I cut off my nose to spite my face and vowed never to return. But I love most of it's people......I have my reasons.
I love England because it's my home country, place of birth and we have healthcare but I hate alot of it's people.....see my point?

At least, my country isn't socialized... yet.

Now that I see your point, I understand. But I also understand why you might see this as the case, though in defense, I have heard maybe one person ever say that. And he's an asshole, which I'm sure you have in the UK too.

I don't imagine that French assistance in the American Revolution was selfless, though. No nation goes into a war without an agenda. To put it simply, France would've loved to see Britain screwed over by losing a colony, especially since they lost a lot of territory to them.

It's funny because most europeans makes fun of us 24/7, and when we say one little thing about them, they get all offensive saying that we make fun of them a lot.

It's funny because America is mostly made up of Ex-Europeans.

It's funny when Europeans are touring in america or something, and spend most of their time looking for a group of fat people to take a pic of to make all of America look fat.

It's funny when a single American is stupid, Europeans and other countries assume it's all of America than a single American.

That would be ignorant, though... it's surely a minority.

???

I have never ONCE in my LIFE heard any American ever relay that sort of message to anyone under any circumstance... I really have no idea where you would get that idea.

Maybe it is YOU who cannot get over WW2...?

At least we didn't lose to the French.

I have never heard anyone ever say that :\

In fact it probably wouldn't even cross anyone's mind to say that, of the people I know anyway...

I'm not gonna dignify that with an answer.
