You are admin, however Vista doesn't run them under your name unless its told other wise. To make it run in admin mode, goto the compatiblity tab and tick the box for Run in admin mode.

If you don't want EA to get any credit, destroy their Refinery. Duh.

Not horrible programmers really, just geekdom. People who try to make things so secure its unusable and complex for the average user.

Yep. It's good for people like my mum, who can't tell what the PC's doing 90% of the time. It's downright irritating for the experienced user though.

On topic, typically, this can be fixed by running Renegade in XP SP2 compatability mode and as administrator.

Head to "C:\westwood\Renegade\" and then find and RIGHT CLICK on "game.exe" (Or, if you've installed Renguard, "game2.exe") and head to the compatability tab, and then check the "Run this program in compatability mode for" box, and then select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down list.

At the bottom of this tab, check the "Run as administrator" box, then cliock "apply", then "OK"

It should run. Smile

Renguard is a wonderful initiative

Game.exe needs to be run in admin mode (+ compat mode just to be safe).
Game2.exe can be run normally without modifications (for me).

I suggest you quit all other programs before you start renegade as some of them will cause it to crash (ALL INCLUDING INTERNET EXPLORER, AND MEDIA PLAYER, JUST DO ALL, THEN TAKE YOUR TIME FIGURING OUT WHICH ONES CAN RUN WITH RENEGADE RUNNING SAFELY).
