XCC Mixer (XCC tools) freezes whenever it tries to load skirmish00.mix for Renegade, I'm not sure why. This computer was purchased brand new not long ago and I found it does this on the old comp as well.
Renegade Extractor (from renhelp.net) won't open MIX files from other games such as Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. Whenever I try to do this I get an error "Mix is a bad format or is corrupted" or somthing.
Unmix (another program I found on google) doesn't even start up, as soon as I open it it crashes with no waring or error at all.

Does anyone know of a mix extractor which is not retarded? IE will actually allow me to extract the files I wish? Note it doesn't have to play VQAs, view W3Ds etc I have other programs/plugins etc for that.

XCC Mixer never worked for me - freezes on startup.
For Renegade I'm using RenegadeEx, which works quite fine in most cases.

XCC doesn't actually freeze. It searches for the list of compatible files at the first run, and that seems to take forever but it doesn't.

As was said eailer, XCCMixer scans every westwood file, can take a few minutes on the first load, but afterwards, will get faster.

As I said above, RenegadeEx only does RENEGADE archives, I want TS/RA2 files extracted. and XCC Mixer seems to take forever, god knows how long I would have to wait. I give up on that shit.

I need somthing else.

It doesn't. The more westwood games (and the more instances of westwood games, I had two or three TS/RA2 install in various places at one point) you have, the longer it takes. Just wait. If you have slow hard disks (Ie, not a SATA II RAID 0) give it some time.

Press and hold Space bar when it starts, this will stop the indexing of the files.

*you need to be quick with this*

unmix.exe is a simple drag and drop tool. i like it.

drop a container file (dat mix etc)on the exe.
or rightclick a container, and open with unmix.

it will spit out a folder, with unzipped files, next to the original file.

XCC for compatibility with all C&C Games.

RenegadeX for bulk extracting Renegade archives.

For RenegadeEx it works really well. Thumbs Up For the xcc tool it freezes when it startups because you need to give it time. When it start just let it sit there so it can find all of you Westwood/EA games. Then it will not freeze. The next time you use it it will load a lot faster.

Hope this helps. Big Ups
