I have a newer laptop with Vista and I can't get the game to come up at all. All I get it the initial Renegade banner box thing right before it starts and then it says Renegade had a problem and closed it. I realize this topic has been posted, and I have read and several of the things suggested like updating, installing Renguard, updating the core/scripts or whatever else, and running it as an administrator. I've also given the program full permission to do whatever it wanted.

I've read something about making the xp sp2 compatable. Honestly, I have no idea what that means and I think it's pretty much the only thing I haven't tried. Would anyone care to explain to me? I'm not computer savy.

Alright.

Go to C:\westwood\Renegade

Find "Game.exe" and "Game2.exe (Do this for each of them)

Right click on them, press "Properties"

On the window that appears, go to the tab that has "Compatability" on it.

Check "Run this program in Compatability mode for..." and then from the drop down box select "Windows XP SP2" (That might appear as "Windows XP (Service Pack 2")

Also make sure "Run as administrator is checked, then press "Apply" then "Ok"

After you've done this for both "game.exe" and "game2.exe" then it should work. If you can't find "game2.exe", then don't worry, just do it for "game.exe"

That help?

I finish typing this, and reply, to find you've posted! Sad

Alright, install This

(Tech. Supp. Regs, that's scripts, he probably installed 3.X then the core patches)

AHAHA! I feel like a dork. I found the darn thing and the program openned. Except I can't see a darn thing, the screen goes black. I recognize the intro and menu screen music and sounds, but I can't see anything. Any ideas?

EDIT: Not sure if it is relevant but graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1200
