Okay I have a computer and I am using the user in xp that has standard acess. So when I install renegade I can't play it because it says I need Administrator acess. Angry I can't get this scess because of many reasons. So I was wondering how I can disable that feature in the game that check to see if I have administrator acess. So I can install it and play it even if I don't have administrator acess. Thank in Advance! Big Grin

You simply can't. No admin = no access to registry = no installing.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

Just ask your dad or whatever if you can install the game under his name, or ask if you can please get admin access.

No, I use the computer at the library sometimes, so I can play it. I can install Renegade just fine, but I can't play it. I would have to edit game.exe some how so it does not look for acess. OR I could try and find administrator reset password cracks. Big Grin

If you hack game.exe you can't play online since everyone will have different game.exe than you.
If you hack admin access the library will probably ban you from there.

Public libraries do nto allow you to install software on their PC's they will bann you and erase the game/program if they find out. the only type of game allowed is stuff like runescape since it runs off the browser.

Its easy, well if you have a CD Burner and/or pen drive. Install Renegade to your PC. Once installed copy the */Westwood/Renegade/* folders to your pen drive/CD. Then move the folders to the computer you want to play on. You wont beable to use RenGuard but it shouldn't prompt you for admin access since it doesn't use the registry. (I don't think it works for WOL either so use GSA and/or DC)

Did you test this, it will let me install but when I try and click on Game.exe or Game2.exe it says please logon with admin acess. But I am not sure I will try it again. Because all I am doing is clicking on the Renegade icon, which is using Renegade.exe So I will go and try this now, and let you know how it works. Big Grin

I dont think using a usb pen drive will work, the registry files for the game to run wont work due to them not being on the PC at the library, plus playing a game off USB may be slow, especially with library computers being old and may be usb 1.0.

I can export the registery key and then put it on the other computer and I can COPY the files from there. Our computers are new so they have a really high USB speed. So I am pretty sure it will work, I will jsut luance renegade with game.exe/game2.exe instead of Renegade.exe LOL AoBfrost you talk like you know everything Sarcasm

Because I have experience where Some games I actually installed on mt external USB drive/harddrive wont run on another PC because the PC didnt have the registry value, it isnt that easy to extract them because some games use multiple files and they are named very odd, you can try to do it, now you confirmed it uses USB 2.0 it will run, your fps may not be fast though, it depends if it is fast enough for handling renegade, I'm sure the game will start though if you can get it to run without registry. One way you could do it would be to copy the renegade/westwood registry folder completly to your usb drive, then import every single one to the PC.

This all may/may not work, I've tried doing 5-6 games this way, and they dont work unless I copied the reg, but heck it's worth a try.

LOL you could delete the SAM file in the reg Sarcasm Actually I think that I have played Renegade on my computer at home without the reg key. As in I deleted the key and the next time I ran Renegade it seems as if you made a new key because when I look back the key was updated with the information and such.

Yeah, any programs run under your (more than likely to be) administrator account at home will be able to add to the registry, they won't on the Library PCs. You'd need to hide a USB 2.0 HDD (about... 6 GB would cover it). Install XP on that hard drive (while it's connected to the library PC - Hard, esp if they don't have a CD drive you can get at, you could try using a USB CD drive as well, but then you'd need to be able to restart the library PC - maybe not so hard - and then make it boot from the USB CD drive - may be difficult / impossible, then install XP) then install Renegade.

Then you could play. Why the F*ck would you want to bother. It'd be easier to get internet access at your house... o0

By the way, you can run Ren off of a USB 2.0 HDD. Can't say for the quality because the rest of the PC was so crap it could have been anything causing that low FPS. Smile

I don't have ANY registry values for Renegade, according to my PC Renegade isn't even installed yet I play it on a daily basis. The only registry values I have for Westwood is for RA2.

If you want the registry values, I had no issue extracting the "Westwood" key from HKLM > Software. That seemed to contain everything, and Renegade didn't complain.
