Okay, I installed Vista last week and now the only driver that is listed is Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio. I don't suppose there is any way to get into some of the other drivers and use them instead (as this one sucks). I do remember that there was a WWConfig file that was able to get a much larger video drivers listing, but I don't know if it did anything with the sound drivers listing.

You could try to disable this sound device in the hardware manager and look if it still displays it in the WWConfig tool.
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

Creative Alchemy
Search the Creative forums for Alchemy--if you have an Audigy card, there should be a beta free version of Alchemy somewhere on the forums. Alchemy should be free for X-Fi.
Well, this is assuming that you have a Creative sound card...

The mechanism for Directsound 3D in Vista was removed, which is what Renegade and many other games use for 3D sound. What kind of sound card do you have?

You need the Alchemy program--it's a free software update here. I don't think a direct link will work, so pick your soundcard and download the Alchemy update. You need to place a .dll and an .ini file in the Rengade directory that's included in the Alchemy download, and you'll have to tweak a few settings, but it will work. Alchemy rewraps all the Directsound calls to OpenAL for Direct3D games like Renegade.

*blushes* Oh geese, thats where I have been downloading my sound card driver from the beginning (because I did not have the cd). I was assuming all the software was just the same stuff I got on my cd at home. Obviously I was wrong.
Now I will install it and tell you guys if it all works.

This has to be one of the best sites for getting help with anything computer related.
Oh ya, and if anyone else has any problems with this type of deal you will have to put dsound.dll and ALchemy.ini (two files shown below) into the renegade directory.
Thanks for the help YSLMuffins, and everyone else that at least through some ideas out.

Glad you got it to work. This is pretty much what you'll have to do for other games that use Direct3D if you have Vista.
