They arent 2007's Scottsboro Boys. They're not innocent. They shouldn't not go free.
I agree they shouldn't be tried as adults, but the charges have been dropped to little more then assualt and battery.
They really shouldn't be made into martyr's, they are guilty of a crime.

6 black kids, beat the !@#$% out of 1 white kid, knocked him out, made him go to the hospital.
The white kids were being racial by not letting black kids under their tree hangout place, so 6 black kis beat the crap out of 1 kid for that.
Being racial is no reason to beat the crap out of someone, it doesnt hurt anyone, but is is stupid and mean, but still...stupid and mean things are no reason to beat a kid that badly.

Ok, the white kids were fucking dumb. No question about that. BUT what they did didnn't leave a kid mentally retarded. Not that severe.
The black kids are also fucking dumb. However they did leave a kid mentally retarded. Severe.
It really is that simple.
Btw, when people pull the race card it makes me sick. The race card causes more racism than anything else.

What surprised me is that the white kids, who hung nooses under that tree weren't charged, because the prosecution said no laws exist that punish an action like that...
He-l-l-l-l-o-o-o-o-o, Hate Crimes?
I think the black ones should be charged, but the white kiddies should also have the book thrown at them, simply because no one should get away with this bullshit.

That's not a hate crime. That's freedom of speech/expression.
While I don't agree with racism, the white kids' actions were NOT illegal. Stupid, immature, and completely uncalled for? Absolutely, but it wasn't a crime. Just like a KKK rally is freedom of speech, so is that. As wrong as it may be, it is covered by the First Amendment.
I will say this, the white kid got what he deserved, but that still doesn't make the crime right. However, I don't think the "Jena 6" deserves to have attempted murder on their rap sheet.

Figures. We have hate crime legislation up here in Canada, and there would be a very good chance that it would result in charges. This expression of hate goes against another person's right to freedom of life, and liberty.

Well, "Jena 6", I was like "What the fuck?" Because I have no idea what Jena means.. and I thought google would correct me on it and say "Did you mean Jenny 6?"
But yeah.. the topic starter didn't tell us anything.. so what did you expect?

In June, an all-white jury in the mostly-white town convicted 17-year-old Mychal Bell, who was 16 at the time, of aggravated battery, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years. Just recently, an appeals court threw out the conviction, concluding that Bell should have been tried as a juvenile.
16 at the time??? Thats an adult and they knew what they did was wrong.
Up to 15 years for it! If you cant do the time then don't do the crime.
Right or wrong, they knew what they were doing. Guilty as charged M'Lord.
