You'll always find 4 or 5 people willing to teamplay on a big server like n00bstories, but not everyone wants to play in a big server...
For one, I'm still on a lower end PC, and secondly, there's way too many people running around to the point where it's hard to do anything other than tank rushes.
I never really liked huge 50 player servers either, Renegade meets its peek at around 24 players. Heck, even if you have a 6 on 6 with really good players on each team, you can have a blast.
I never join public servers unless I'm with people I know, it's as if the majority of players aren't into teamwork like they used to be. People were a lot better at Renegade back when this game was still new in 2002 and 2003. It was a real challenge back then. Now, it's a challenge just to kill noobs without being convicted of cheating all the time.

Ironwarrior, Yes I got kicked, t-banned or what not, but i didnt really care at that point, im not returning to that server again.
If you think setting up 30+ tanks for waves is teamwork, then your out of your mind! Everyone on the same page buying a med tank and killing just a few to pass the limit would be more like it.
I tried to organize a mass gunner rush but everyone was to busy waiting for 100 tanks for 10 waves, while we wait we could do something else you know?
It was just a bunch of lame people on the server, and I wanted to vent. So i made a post, I didnt see any rules about attacking buildings, nor did i see any rules about wrecks, wrecks are dumb anyways.
but your right, what i did was stupid and equally matched by the stupidity on that server.
@stewie, 8hr's??, sorry I joined the wrong server i guess, i dont have 8 hrs to play a game of watching people buy med tanks and kill em...
and your logic of waves is off, if 1 wave doesnt work, what makes you think the next wave will?...all it takes is 10 med tanks and they wouldnt be able to keep the building up for long(then just buy them normally!), if it doesnt work then "oh noes your giving them credits!!, bannnnhim!!1"
It may be a marathon, but if your attacking the enemys base, you still have an upper hand. As you hold the field and pound every tank that trys to come out, you are winning. I'm still gaining more credits then the other team.
Maybe if everyone attacked the HON, you may finally get it to blowup...back in the day this is how you would win.
Marathon + wrecks + dumb rules = horrible gameplay

[NE | Fobby[GEN] wrote on Fri, 28 September 2007 18:42]There are more legitimate ways of winning Renegade, I consider tank massing a bug. There's a vehicle limit for a reason, and exploiting that limit would be a glitch in the game. Like all exploits, vehicle massing should be disallowed.
Building 20 vehicles to rush a base is probably is least creative way to attack. It's a lot more fun to have a collective rush of 7 tanks, with hotwires backing them up, snipers, and anti-armor guys. Vehicle massing takes away from the game.
|
Yes, that works in theory, but doesn't work out well in game.
Massing and rushing with over 20 tanks is more true to Command and Conquer style of gameplay.

Sure it works ingame, it's what the rest of us are doing in non-tankmassing servers.

Obviously this topic is just another issue where people toss their own opinions around about other people's servers.
Everyone has their own opinions about other servers. In my opinion, FnFall isn't my choice of server because of my own personal reasons. Other servers are because it's the samething as the next just different way of using those special features and ideas different servers have. I don't play public games anymore. I either play in my Mt0wn Servers or I go play a clanwar. That's why I do clanwarring. You want teamwork, hell, set up a clan and get a teamate(s) that will work with you. It's interesting that way and you learn alot of different strategies and tactics that actually lead to winning the game instead of walking AFK n00bs in a public server running around thinking repair guns are the best option at killing people.
Different communities, different gameplay, different rules, different server mods, different mod staff. There are many things that can make a server successful. The answer doesn't always have to be an a00 name. Don't critize them because of it.

It is all about the type of player your server attracts. The sucessfull servers that are full are that way for a reason. They are unique in some way. Other than we both host Renegade servers there is not much that you can compare Jelly and n00bstories with. The servers that are empty are because they are the same run of the mill bullshit. You just need to find your match. Knowing how long you have been playing and your (assumed) skill level I would agree that n00bstories would be a good fit for you.
|
That is total fucking bullshit.
You only have players because you are in the top of the lists.
if you think otherwise, give us your precious a00 names.
|
I Totally agree here, give up the nicks and lets see where it takes your "players"?.

The a00 nickname attracts the players, but it's the quality of the server, the staff, and the gameplay that keeps them coming back. I have been running a server since a few months after the game came out so I know what the hell I'm doing, and so do the people who help me run it.
I'm the bawss.

I like vehicle shells. I think they add ambiance to the map.
But I don't like how you can repair them and they spawn a new vehicle.
They should just appear when a tank is destroyed, then can only be blown up from there.
It makes the map look cooler.
Also, those A00 names mean crap to me. I don't understand... what other reason do people who are looking for a server to play on have to sort the game listings by host name? Other than being invited to join a specific host.
No one is like "Oh hey, that host's name is A0000lol! Lets join that server cause they have 4 zeros!"
Hell, no one even searches by server name anymore, although that is the best one to search by if your looking for a game, because game names usually tell you want the server is. (I.E Sniping, AOW, CTF, ect)
Other than that, I would say sorting by Players or Map are the two main ones people use. I usually search by server name or amount of players in game. I never search by host name.

First...if you don't like massing, don't play in a 50 player Marathon server. I'd recommend either BI or TK2 AOW for you, Titan.

Do not post when you don't know what the fuck you talking about, thank you.
MP-Servers have a very high player count, as am an server admin for them all, I'll know our player numbers and our community is very strong.
