3 Days ago I started making master chief's armor from halo 2, I found a pretty inexpensive way, it uses paper modeling of life sized peices, then resining the peices to make them hard, then fiberglass and bondo, and of course some paint, several masterchief Suits out there are made this way, and are very durable and cheap to make.

I started making the helmet and came out with this (without resin or fiberglass applied yet, just the paper model)

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y133/FMAROCKS/Masterchiefhelmetistoobig.jpg

It is a 90-95% accurate helmet and is life sized. The only problem is...I'm not 7 feet tall like masterchief is, so this helmet is way to large for me, I'm only 5 feet 8 inches tall. So now I will be spending ANOTHER 3 days making a better helmet and one that does fit.

After I complete the helmet, I will be making the full armor, it'll take me probably 1-2 months to make, but, the top image is a good achievement, cutting out 21 pages of paper, folding over 1000 folds, and glowing 300+ tabs.

EDIT: the helmet wont actually be finished since it is kinda too big, also, the spikey peices of paper where the visor should be are just tabs to attack a paper visor. I decided not to attack it because IF THIS WAS usable, then I would have used a real plastic visor from a motorcycle/dirt bike helmet.

I see others wearing their armor and it looks 1337, I see me wearing this, I look like a retard because of the size of the thing and the size of my own head, it's like those oversized toddler bike helmets, they look stupid, That was made from plain printer paper, the next one will be card stock which is more durable in paper modeling. Plus, when I resin it, cardstock doesnt absorb much liquid, so it wont bend over from having liquid on it, this first attempt would because it's super thin and absorbs tons of liquid.

Looks pretty good though.

Give me 50 dollars and I'll do it. It took me 22 hours to build that thing, 22 hours in 3 days. I was planning on buying stormtrooper armor for 700 dollars, then I find a company who recasted some fancy high quality masterchief armor...for 700 dollars, same price. Full kit with enitre body and helmet unpainted, I think maybe in 1-2 more years I will buy that kit...or stick with stormtroopers since they are cool too, and you dont need to paint them since they are already glossy white.

I might actually attemtp to make the suit as nice as possible from paper to plastic using bondo, fiberglass and all that hard stuff....

I saw a guy who in 3 days working nonstop, he made a fully accurate suit from cardbaord, bondo, and fiberglass and it looks nice, nothig of course beats the plastic formed suits because of their supurior quality, but these are almost as good. I'd say their 80-90% as good as the real deal.

Forget kevlar and other refined metals, at only a 20% loss in quality the military can just use cardboard and glue!

Very Happy

You would need to make an under suit, then build around it. Making sure the joints over and under lap each other. That way you can bend without breaking things.

For example, if you wanted to make the knee, you would need to make "armor" on the thy, break it at the knee so it sticks out, then put more "armor" on the calf. Then just put a single piece of its own on the knee so that it moves freely over the thy and calf.

No masterchief isnt built like a robot, the undersuit can be easily bought for 80 dollars (I might just use black jogging pants and a black long sleeve tshirt lol)

I'm thinking of just going back to stormtroopers for the whole armor, their plastic quality is thicker and higher and glossier, so I guess maybe i'll just stick with what I loved in the begining....STOOOOORRRMTROOPERS.

Whatever I do get, I know the first thing I will do.

Go to work on a day I am off and demand a discount because I'm either a imperial trooper that will kill the cashier, or I am masterchief, so famous, If i dont get a discount, I'll just say "i'm freakin masterchief danggit!"

Then maybe go to the mall in it, then to a gamestop, then to my local grocery store...Oh the fun i will have when I buy a suit of armor.

Btw. Saw a video of a stormtrooper vs masterchief, stormtrooper armor is built to reflect laser blast as said in star wars, masterchief isnt. Masterchief shot everything at the trooper, trooper lived...trooper shot masterchief...chief died.

If you do attempt something like that (go to grocery store, or gamestop) you need to get someone to video tape it, and then upload it to Youtube.

I'll go rob gamestop and when police come they'll ask what the criminal looked like, and the cashier will say "he was umm green, he's MASTERCHIEF FROM THE VIDEO GAME HALO 3"

Police: "masterchief robbed you...."
Cashier: "No joke man, he did"
Police: "I was at a tim hortons eating donuts and you call me here to tell me a joke..."

Very nice job there, Frost! Thumbs Up

Paper modelling is one of my treasured hobbies but I never attempted something life-size...though I would really love to make a Ramjet.

Way too much time on one's hands...

Also, anybody who makes/wears a furfag suit needs to be taken out back to be put down.

Oh, that was just a comment directed towards The Merovingian's comment of saying how he'd pay you money if you made him a fursuit. A furfag is just a derogatory term for furries.

whoa.

Since the helmet is too large for me and too useless I'm either giving it away finished or tossing it into the trash and have someone else at the dumps find it as a treasure.

I finished the helmet and have a picture of the visor on, the helmet is about 10 inches tall, maybe 11, not sure.

I'll post pictures soon.

(maybe someone on ebay will buy this =O....doubt it, even if they did 5$ would be the most lol)

His suit was the most accurate there is, and it's made from heavy thick plastic to be really unbreakable from normal use.

Heres my pic of my finished helmet

If i was 7 foot tall, I would resin and fiberglass this one, but since i'm not.....I'm going to walmart to buy come cardstock and reprint the lines and recut everything and REDO IT ALL.

I might just wait for microsoft's newest masterchief armor, since they will be mass producing it, it may be cheaper than a fanmade kit for 700 dollars.
