Recruit

Well like i said... i cant get RENGUARD to run on vista, i install RENEGADE, Download the 1.037 patch, then D-L Renguard, update it, and then try to play, when i go to online multiplayer it keeps asking me to d-l the 1.037 patch... help!

I can fix this, just let me get on the right PC. (If anyone else wants to help, just extract the version key from their Renegade entry in the registry)

You may also want to try making Renegade and Renguard run in XP SP 2 compatability mode, and admin mode. Info on how to do this here (Ignore that it says "error 0000005" - it's the same idea.)

Renguard is a wonderful initiative

Did you install 1.037 BEFORE renguard? That's very important.

ok here's what i did:

1. Put CD in INSTALLED RENEGADE.
2. Started the game & got prompted to D-L patch 1.037, done.
3.Went to Renguard.com D-L Renguard
4. Started Renegade again, Renguard came up & updated it self to 1.323(or something like that)
5. started Renegade, noticed that at the bottom of the start menu it DIDNT say "BLACK HAND STUDIOS" but rather WESTWOOD patch 1.037

i tried to go to WESTWOOD servers & it kept saying the server is not responding or something like that... and now im here...

ok i uninstalled EVERYTHING and ill wait till you guys get back to me about this,i figure i may have screwed something up, and now its just looping me thru the same stuff.. i even went in to my C drive & deleted the RENEGADE folders, and the WESTWOOD internet components. so yea... any time guys. i needs mah RENEGADE!!*shivers*

Install Renegade
DL And Install Patch 1.037
Install Renguard
Install some scripts(optional)

make sure you open properties for game.exe go to compatibility tab and click "run this program as administrator" and "run this program
in compatibility mode for: select windows xp (service pack 2) and do that to game2.exe too.

if that does not work post and say so.

OK so i changed the compatibiliy to WINDOWS SP2 in both GAME & GAME2 files/programs, nothing... it still says WESTWOOD patch 1.037 at the bottom. and it didnt display any servers.

It's supposed to do that. What does the MOTD say when you first log in to XWIS?

thats the thing, i cant get in to XWIS, and i had it installed on my old computer and it said BLACK HAND SUDIOS at the bottom along with 1.323 patch or something...

basically what it says when i try to long on to WESTWOOD ONLINE is: "Page failed to load or is invalid" im guessing VISTA is locking RENGUARD..?

thats the problem even after i type in a name & password it still wont let me click "join" or enter... the only button i can click is "create new account".
