I wanna tell you guys all a story which made me angry and very depressed thoughout the things that occured.

Theres this old taiwanese women my mother knows, they were very close and practically best friends, always shopping together, talking on the phone, and hanging out helping each other out in situations.

This women named mrs. lee could not speak english, luckily my family is bilingual and can speak english and taiwanese accentless, that is how we communicated with mrs. lee and her family.

Things went well until these past few months she complained about constant head aches, the way she told us made them sound like she had migrains (however you spell it) which is common in many people. Then one day she falls over in her house and has a stroke, she fainted.

Her son who lives with her, and her grandson where there and called 911. They were rushed to the hospital. Those people in the hospital knew she had a stoke, but put her on hold for 12 hours and wouldnt let them go since it was a "emergency". Poor mrs. lee was stuck without oxygen to her bain for 12 hours. She stopped breathing on her own.

mrs. lee was rushed to another local hospital which took the case seriously and hooked her to any and every machine to keep her alive, food, urine, air, everything.

Mrs Lee laid asleep for 3-4 days, her stupid son asked if they could pull the plug to let her die, the doctors said ok, he said he had all family members agree to this to end her "suffering". Later through some talking, we found out we were lied to and only her son had made this choice, no one else in Mrs lee's family knew about this descision.

Mrs Lee was to be transfered to a hospice care facility for people left to die in hopes they wake up and make a comeback. When the man went to get her and bring her to the hospice, he had claimed she had died and stopped breathing, she was checked and announced dead at the scene.

Mrs. Lee died because of her son's stupidity, the hospitals carelessness, and her son's impatience. If he would have spoken up saying she needed help, they may have saved her at the first hospital, and if not, those people at the hospital should have helped her right away rather than allowing her to sit there for 12 hours causing more damage to her brain.

Once she was in the hospital we were told she could make a recovery because things were looking better, but her son impatienly wanted her to die, he said he didnt want to sign up for life insurance or put her into a nursing home, he said those places arent good and it was just too much pain to see her like that and still live. He signed the papers, they pulled the plug, she died.

My family was supporting them and helping them though this event, and all Mrs lee's son could do was ignore our help, advice, and just say whats convinient for him is whats best for him.

Mrs. lee's husband was lied to also, he was told by his own son that she was still alive, he told me he planned to just say she died several months later because she stopped breathing.

Once Mrs Lee did die this afternoon, the hospital asked if all family members would like to come, Mr. Lee found out from this that his wife died. He was in tears and went to see her.

Thats the end of my story, and I really think if people acted more quickly and responsibly, that mrs lee would be alive today and awake, maybe she cant walk or talk because of the stroke, but she would because to move, eat, slightly speak and live.

and thats all i have to say because I am really upset right now, mrs lee to me and my family was like a grandmother, she always made treats for us and always offered us food, she was like a grandmother i was never related to, but she loved us all, and now she is gone.

Well, you have every right to feel the way you do. The hospital neglected someone in need of intensive care, and her son, while he could have had good intentions, made a stupid decision. If she couldn't have made a full recovery, I can see the logic in what he did.

whoa.

Well...American Hospital is capital based no? They want to make money...this is why Canadian Health Care system is way better. Plus Ms.Lee's son could be criminally responsible for her death IF the Doctors had believed really high that Ms.Lee was going to recover. (Mr.Lee is gonna kill his son...)

OK, first off, this has nothing to do with the health-care system. A Canadian family would be hit with plenty of huge fees as well.

Second of all, her son is a f*cking weasel. I believe in ending people's suffering, but he did it out of self-interest. The thing that saddens me, is that he told you that he was going to lie to his own father...

If you're a dad, the last thing you want to hear in your life is that your wife is dead, and that your son was going to lie about the situation.

If you get a chance, make use of firearm laws, because a certain asshole really needs to be put down.

Sadly this is just another example of human nature. But I don't think we can judge someones actions accurately when we judge them passionately and we cannot help but use this emotion in our judgments because I can remind us of a sense of death or loss in our lives, maybe Mrs Lee's son did do what was best.....but best for who is the question, he acted in his own interests and while it infuriates and disturbs some of us, to others it may make more sense. This is because we cannot state what we would do in those circumstances unless we ourselves have been in those circumstances to begin with.

AoBfrost I am truly sorry that you have lost a dear friend and extended family member and this obviously pains you because you feel like Mrs Lee's life was stolen, but hating her son will make the pain worse, and do you really think that is something she would have wished for?

TBH, if she had no oxygen to her brain for 12 hours she would probably have already been brain dead, or pretty close. Chances are she would never have woken up.

Well the thing is when we went to see her, she did open her eyes and move them several times, then all of the sudden faint again like she passed out, and she would mumble stuff which I could sorta make out as words, so I dont think she was brain dead. they gave her soooo many drugs that even nurses said they doubted she was still unconscious, they said the drugs they gave her probably just made her unable to wake up because of her drowsiness.

Your brain begins to die at 4 minutes without oxygen.
