I loved playing badminton when I was in school a few year back. Although it is a fun sport, that's all it is. A sport played for fun. You can't really play it like you'd play football.

But if you look at how fast the birdie can go at a smash or drive, it doesn't seem that easy to block. I know it seems like a sissy sport cause it's so light, but it requires so much endurance and people can't seem to see that.

Edit: I forgot to say, yes badminton is not as tough as a sport like football. However, I'm getting annoyed how little recognition and respect badminton has.

That may be true, however, I still stand to believe it just a sport thats played for fun and not competition.

Don't get me wrong, Its a great sport but I don't think it would ever be taken seriously.

It involves speed, agility, and accuracy, so I'd consider it a sport. Ping-pong, I mean "table-tennis" is regarded as a sport too, and Badminton is way less laughable.

I play golf myself, and I also consider it a sport.

I enjoy both "football" games equally.

Eh? What makes you say that? Isn't sports just a game the keeps you in shape? When did it become a life-endangering thing?

Here in Australia they play REAL football (either Australian Rules or Rugby depending on where you are). And unlike those wimpy Yank footballers, the Aussies dont wear huge shoulder pads.

I find it funny that you of all people on here would call our football players wimpy.

You can try to call it wimpy, but if you knew the actual physics of the game, you'd see that the hits are anything but.

Rugby is a tougher game than American Football if you watch that you will see that as a fact and not an opinion (I have watched both). I'm not saying that American Football players are weak or anything but you can be pretty sure they don't take as much of a battering with those pads on. I'm pretty sure Rugby players also have a hell of a lot more endurance since from the little I know about American Football the stoppages are quite regular. I have never really seen Aussie Rules Football so I can't really comment on that one.

They play it at the Olympics, so you would think it must be considered a real sport. Besides, it's a sport the UK is actually good at! Thumbs Up

As I said, you have to see the actual physics of the game. Just because there's padding doesn't mean it absorbs the blows completely. I know there was some numbers in Maxim magazine, but I don't remember them.
