We ignore the un-worthy but to answer your question Renegade doesn't support max materials or max effects. (That includes RenX and 3ds max)

All effects in Renegade are created by w3d viewer using the emitter system.

A mixture of Emitters/W3d Files/Cinematic scripts. The ION cannon is an amazing work of art and I have yet to see its equal but here is the only tutorial on cinematics.
