I bought my 7900GS 525M last year for £156, you can now get the 7900GS 600M for less then £100. Its a great card. I haven't found a game that he won't play as of yet.

Ah nice, might look into it.

Don't really need a top of the range card or something that gives me 1000s fps.. just a nice well built card that will last for a long time without burning out, which can support any upcoming UE3 game and crysis. Smile

600MB, what a weird number?

PS:ATI is FAIL and AIDS their new card is much bigger then the 8800 and much crappier!

I think you've misunderstood the abbrevation. 525M/600M doesn't stand for the memory. It stands for the core speed. 525Mhz.

On-Topic. My card is running slightly lower than the 600M version. My current speeds are. 577Mhz Core. 776Mhzx2 Memory speed, I've had it hit 86c underload. All in all it does its job well for £100.

Looks huge to me! But I could be wrong, I dunno maybe I have depth perception problems.

for budget high end DX9, go for a X1950Pro, for DX10 (I get 35fps avg in Call Of Juarez) mid range go with a 2600XT, for very low DX10 8600GT and good/decent DX9.

Was looking up cards on ebay.uk and found this.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/nVidia-GeForce-8400GS-PCI-E-256MB-Graphics-Video-Card_W0QQ itemZ140155269959QQihZ004QQcategoryZ3762QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'll like it because, it's very cheap, retail price is like 150-200 quid I'll believe?, it's dx10 and supports shader model 4.

Not sure if I'll would ever buy it though, I'll don't fully trust ebay and how can they sell it so cheap?

That thing is worse than some midrange DX9 cards.

Yeah pretty much, that card doesn't retail for £200 I can tell you that much. I just found a 8400GS 512mb for £31 brand new.

Edit: IW read your PM.

That would put you back around 70-100 euros so about 45 to 65 pounds. It is a real piece of shit though, if you look at the reviews.

Oh, apparently I was wrong Razz it's even cheaper.

Edit:
I'll post something about my gfx card too Wink
I got a Geforce 7800 GTX, for about 2 years now, got it when it was just released. Still does it's job quite nicely. Though I can't run everything at max detail at 1680*1050 anymore, but that was to be expected.

Ah that's nice, this is the kind of thing am looking for, but it doesn't support dx10.. so any dx10 games come out, we fucked.

As far as I'm concerned, the two biggest releases in my future are Starcraft II and UE3. Both use X9 with X10 features available. I'll get some X10 hardware in 1.5-2 years time, when it's cheaper.

I'll found these on that site just now.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-127-AS&groupid=701&a mp;a mp;catid=56&subcat=912

I'll think the OcUK GeForce 8500 GT 256MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) would be ok for me.

Edit, yeah, I'll think am gonna go for that one, it's well within my price range and meets what I'll need, an all around card that can support all dx9-10 and shader model 4.0 which is 1.0 above what Bioshock and other new games are using.

The price is sweet too.

Might even give me better fps in Renegade and other games.

Right now, am using an Nivdia 5700FX LE, it's has worked fine for me for many years, about 4-5 I'll think.

Ah higher clock huh?, guess you not really paying for a better card, but just for the brand name as always.

Had double links for one, here is the one am thinking of getting.

Well, looking at the specs between 8500 and 8600, there is nothing hardware different, expect the 8600 is just faster.

Both cards, will be able to run the same type of games for many years.
