I have just installed renegade to find out it is the german version and i don't have a clue what is being said on the option screens etc. Atm i am trying to navigate my way to the servers list (not able to speak a word of german) and when i get there there are no servers (just a blank page) and it didnt ask for a nick or password to get there either. Any ideas? Alternatively is there a way get it in english and i may be able to help myself?

I had the real game (TFD) and the disc broke. I am not buying it again out of principle. There must be a way to put the english language in the directory or something =s

The rip doesn't include WOL components, probably, so you will never be able to play online. Got nothing to do with the language.

Can they not be downloaded sperately? (i know they can be for ra2 and yr). I have downloaded ra2 and yr successfully and played online (keep in mind i have paid for TFD so i have every right).

Maybe this will help. These are the exact steps i take when opening renegade. Maybe somebody who speaks German could help?

Step 1:

index.php?t=getfile&id=4233&private=0

Step 2: I think this is the messageof the day thing but i don't have a clue what it says.

index.php?t=getfile&id=4234&private=0

Step 3: Note that it has one of my nicks auto logged in at the bottom however the same problem occurs when i uncheck the auto log in box and i just log in to the servers list without being asked for a nick/pw.

Step 4: Blank servers list

Try installing this:

ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/updates/Renegade_1037_English.exe

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Well i did have a legal copy and what i am currently doing is legal. Downloading (for free) something which you already have is not illegal.

Alex, didn't you upload a Ren installer in English? If he's got a valid serial, he'll be away, and if he doesn't, XWIS will catch him.

I do have a valid serial as i had a perfectly legal copy until the disc broke (i still have the serial)

I did, But It has SafeDisk protection, Meaning, I need to hax the setup.exe. Wink

Oh right, you'll also need a no-cd crack (Comes with RenGuard patch)

And my friend who can remove the SafeDisk protection is.. uhh.. Lost in the world of WoW, So yeah. :/

You've learnt the lesson - take care of those CDs. If I break a console CD, well I'm screwed.

With the amount of time and effort of people posting here, its already cost more than a few bucks to go buy the game again. Just buy a new copy, then all will be well.

The language is not the problem.
You have the game downloaded from the internet, it's a pirate, cracked copy with a stolen serial which is not unique. You will never be able to play online with a pirate version, because the serials you find on websites are all taken.

Try downloading the patch:

http://www.gamershell.com/download_1147.shtml

You won't be able to install this patch, because it overwrites the crack file. You have to buy a legal copy.

You can check your firewall too.

You said that you have a valid serial, but did you copy&paste the crack file into the install directory? If yes, then that's the problem.
