So it their fault someone uploads stuff?
Thats like sueing RenForums because someone posts warez - its the user at fault, not a public service such a RenForums/YouTube
|
if admins/moderators don't remove them, the service is at fault too...

That stuff is copyrighted, and produced for profit, so it really shouldn't be spread around on a site like YouTube.
Now, if it had advertising for say, fifteen seconds before the clip, that'd be much fairer. The people who'll bitch and moan about not being able to watch a clip of the 'Gay Bee' from Family Guy without seeing a commercial will likely be in a minority.
I think Comedy Central does this with select clips from the Colbert Report, and the 'Daily Show' .

They are supposed to be monitoring the files already, so far they have all but stopped after google bought them. The original owners were deleting stuff left and right, I even got my 165 banned! The long tradition of Oblivion165 is sullied by a single Oblivion168...uhg.
In case your wondering it was Gunther videos that got me banned.
You touch my tra-la-la.

I know Sony BMG has actually been smart, and has uploaded over 1500 of its music videos from years past, and they are commercial free. That's not only a good way to get people to buy the music from today, but it's also good publicity for bands that are no longer on the radio today. I already came across five videos by the hair/glam band 'Warrant' . Might mean a few more album sales for them too.
