Quote: | The speech President George W. Bush SHOULD give:
Normally, I start these things out by saying "My Fellow Americans..."
Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.
I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office. The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.
I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world, or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too lazy to do your homework and figure it out.
Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank, and that's despite record numbers of homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. While we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I've mentioned all those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.
Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beach front property than your economic security.
We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this "blood for oil" thing. If I was trading blood for oil, I would've already seized Iraq's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. Don't give me this 'Bush Lied, People Died' crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you, regime change in Iraq, was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named 'Clinton' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?
You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.
That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can, but they are. They want to kill you, and they're are all over the globe.
You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11, but you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor'.
Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.
Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing!
In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. Even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol.I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, but you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level when there's a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that the Federal government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from, but I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.
So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford.
I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here, pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.
Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there're just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.
So that's it. God bless what's left of America.
Some of you know what I mean.
The rest of you, go back to sitting on your butts, bitching, eating Cheetos, watching American Idol and wait for reality to kick your front door in and eat you alive.... because trust me, it's on the way....

"Economic security" ?!
The current Republican administration are the biggest f*cking n00bs when it comes "Economic Security" . If they were smart, I wouldn't have lost hundreds of dollars in my portfolio due to all that 'subprime mortgage' bullshit... and that's only the beginning. I'm lucky I keep most of my money in my country. I feel bad for the ones who kept it in yours.
Instead of spending nearly a billion greenbacks a day in Iraq, that could be going to streamlining the borders and ports of entry so NAFTA partners aren't given the shaft. One of the reasons your economy is slowing down, is because trade is being restricted by moronic, ham-fisted security measures that punish all parties.
How's that 'Mexican Border Fence' going? Yeah, that's a great way to spend four to eight billion dollars. Maybe if the administration had some foresight, that money would have gone towards creating a freer immigration program, (like the one Bush was touting the past two elections) which would allow Mexican and Central American's easier entry to do hard work, and to get the respectable pay they deserve.
I hate the New York Times too, because they have table-scrap-pilfering grab-asses who rag on any vehicle that isn't a Prius, but telling people that by buying that paper, that they are as good as terrorism financiers, is a load of fucking bullshit. Anyone who believes that might as well jump off a cliff and die, because inbreeding makes you dumb, and worthless to society.
I'm sick and tired of 'Conservatives' giving REAL Conservatives like me a bad name. Everywhere I go, people think I somehow support Bush, or that I eat Polar Bear meat every Sunday.
A real Conservative believes in balancing the budget, streamlining the bureaucracy, and a smaller government. Instead, the Bush government has done just the opposite.
A real Conservative believes in transparency, and accountability. None of that in the government today.

I reread the speech for the sixth time.
Quote: | I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, but you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level when there's a hurricane approaching.

I can tell the author doesn't live anywhere near an ocean. What a pompous asshole. Maybe if the government actually did its job and built the proper infrastructure in order to stop the water from destroying peoples' homes and lives, Katrina would have been a much less severe situation. Calling some of America's poorest 'stupid' just goes to show what an ignorant fucktard the author is.
Quote: | The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.
|
They're fed up at Bush because his government's policies blow more ass than Boy George! I'd be fed up at a President who will soon hold the record for the most vacation time taken while in office, and yet has the country in an increasingly shitty situation.
Quote: | That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. Yeah... and 'shocking and awe-ing' Iraq was a great solution to this problem... No instead of a few dissident countries pissed off at the States, you now have HALF A FUCKING WORLD pissed off at you. The Taliban and al-Qaeda were outcasts in the Muslim majority, and were deemed to extreme. However, thanks to a war that should not have happened, those organizations are becoming more and more popular. Great results.
Quote: | You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do.
|
History?... maybe instead of looking to the past, YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE FOR CHRISSAKE! If you could see through the long lens, then why in God's name did you not realize that Iran would become more powerful after a weakened Iraq?! If the author of this article knew anything about the Middle East, he'd realize that Iran and Iraq HATE each other, and that a strong Iran would destabilize the entire region, and gain influence.
I really want to know who the author is. Probably some idiot in a Klan clubhouse, or in some shanty in Utah.

Hey, I thought there was too much nut-stroking happening in this topic so I figured I'd give a little dissent for shits and giggles.

Maybe if the government actually did its job and built the proper infrastructure in order to stop the water from destroying peoples' homes and lives, Katrina would have been a much less severe situation. Calling some of America's poorest 'stupid' just goes to show what an ignorant fucktard the author is.

He's calling some of these people 'stupid' because even though they were given warning of an impending siege of water wind and whatever earthly hell a hurricane can conjure, many of them made naught an effort to seek better refuge and blatantly disregarded warning that their life was at risk.
I don't give a damn about the rest of your post, but these next two statements got me.

History?... maybe instead of looking to the past, YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE FOR CHRISSAKE!

This statement is one of the biggest piles of literary bullshit I've ever seen. Anyone who has ever been to High School History class could tell you what the consequences are for disregarding the past, even though the author didn't intend the message to deliver that type of message.
The Author likely meant that this process takes time, and most people are so caught up on deadlines that they believe nothing is getting done, just because they're not getting done now.

I really want to know who the author is. Probably some idiot in a Klan clubhouse, or in some shanty in Utah.

This quote made me laugh, simply because probably not five minutes prior to typing this little gem, you made reference to the problems that generalizing displays:

You kicked Mr. Irony right in the crown jewels there.

Right... except that many had no means of leaving the city.
The FEMA shelters that were offered were subpar, and the processes were grossly mismanaged. Hell, the people were treated like crap in many cases. With all that, of course they'd rather try and stick it out through the storm. All they had to their name was their property, and maybe not even that.
Remember, these people had little or no insurance. So even if they left, they'd come back to nothing. I find it disgusting that people from New Orleans are relying on Red Cross donations, even though they live in the wealthiest nation on Earth.

Can you blame people for thinking like that? Wasn't it George Bush who donned a flight suit, and held a press conference on the USS Abraham Lincoln with a massive banner behind him that read, "Mission Accomplished" ... on May 1st, 2003... which was like, four years ago? Talk about 'deadlines' . Seeing as the war began on March 20th, 2003, it would be hypocritical of Bush to even lecture people on 'deadlines' . The White House certainly thought they could win in a few short months... which is the opposite of taking a long time.
As for the 'looking to the past' comment... well, this administration certainly didn't do their homework in Middle East History 101. If they had looked to the past, and critically evaluated it, there'd likely be no Iraq war. That's because the Middle East was a powderkeg, filled to the brim with religious hostility, big ego's, burning sun, and hot sand; not exactly a great place to cause a scuffle.

I take issue with him calling some of America's poorest 'stupid' because my life wasn't always peaches and 'Super Nintendo-after-school'.
I'm not sure about yours...
...but I doubt you've ever collected bottles for anything other than a school bottle drive. I guess I used to be 'stupid' .
Calling poor people, 'stupid' , is ignorant. I guess all those people in Bangladesh are 'stupid'. China must be full of 'stupid' people too. Hell, Africa must be a whole continent of 'stupid'. I guess all those homeless people on our streets suffering from Schizophrenia and Depression are 'stupid' too, huh?
