I wasn't able to get on XWIS the past few days, and yesterday it let me on. And everytime I join a server I get gameplay pending and lag out.
But on the main screen the servers I want to join normally have 30-80 on them, and a green light. 
But if I get on through dial up, I can get on XWIS without a problem and not lag out of servers. Well at least right away, I sometimes lag out anyways.

Seems like a firewall/port problem to me :-S. Check if Renegade is on the white list of your firewall.
