!build, !buy is everywhere not just his server.
10 second beacons are built into rene, he didn't steal it from anyone. Making a few build and buy commands isn't hard. I don't belive kamux put a lot of effort into making them. and you can't copywrite a command, otherwise NR and BR couldn't use !help

Do you know any other servers before kamuix's that was fully !build, !buy, etc?

I was, and there was none that I knew of.

Besides that, kam's server was fun because it had a unique mod. But when people comes in and starts asking everywhere how to do that, it really ruins the point of the uniqueness.

Because everyone is sharing this code, it'd just make the mod unfun.

Plus, he didn't only steal the 10 sec beacon and the build, and buy commands.

Uh hmm. So why does everyone moan when someone wont share their mod? Having more servers with a specific mod is good because players have a choice to go to a good server. For example, someone asked me to write a load of console commands for a server at the top and some other stuff EG re-buyable base defenses. I didn't copy anything, I wrote the code. Players have a new experience playing there because of the commands. It adds a new tactics and more teamwork.

I'm also writing a mod on my server which promotes teamwork, which will be released. It also includes stuff like !buy and mapping tools. Kamux has a right to keep the mod to himself, but i and anyone else has a right to write a new one that is the same. If we didn't have that right, then like i said before, NR and BR wouldn't be around.

Ok, I liked the mod because it's a unique. Plus, if you compare wittebolx's server with kam's, you'll notice that almost every freakin thing is practically identical. He just renamed everything and said that everything was his idea.

Having 20 different people copy the mod at the same time doesn't only ruin the mod idea for kam's server, but for everyserver because the mod wasn't actually boring.

I just hate it when people just steal things, and say that it was their idea.

Not really. I just like to play a server and know that it's one of a kind. But when someone comes in, thinks it's cool, and thinks that he'll be cool if he hosted a server... It just makes me mad to see a lot of people running around asking how to do this and then hosting a server thinking that it'd make them "cool" and "popular".

That's really how I take it. 1 server with this kind of mod is enough.

Honestly, if you want to host a server with a fullblown mod, then don't fucking steal someone else's, think of your own.

Last time i checked, BR, NR and CS don't have credits in their readme saying the help command was ripped from that first bot. And I can't see anything more than !buy and !build in Kamux's server.

You're comparing this to bots used for moderating and other such. This is different.

No, you're saying server owners are ripping from Kamux. I'm saying bots are ripping from the first bot. No one cares about that? And like i said before, it adds variation. Wittlebolx's server isn't exactly the same as Kamux's. Gives players a choice and server admins and such. Kamux just wanted players to himself, which is just like the a0~ nick problem. Having an original mod doesn't equal players anyway, the mods i made for my server arn't original and i can fill my server up pretty quickly on a075 Wink

How about people that created a co-op/CTF/DM after someone else had a server doing it?

How about people 'copying' an in-game ladder after seeing it in a server?

Kamuix may have been the first to do !build commands, but it was only a matter of time before another server implemented it.

Just a quick question. Wasn't Black-Cell one of the first servers to have a !buy/!build command? Or something along them lines?

If you take a closer look at the chars and such, you'll notice how similar they are to kam's. Basically, everything is just renamed with a few extra stuff.

I still say that people should come up with their own ideas.
