Hey there. I've been having a few issues with the fds and this is my first time fully setting up a server myself for the most part so I'm a little stuck. My first problem I'd like to get out of the way first.

The first problem is everytime I try to start brenbot it will simply give me a segmentation fault right after I start it with ./brenbot . I'm 100% sure that I have downloaded the linux version and yes I'm sure it's a linux server. I'm not really sure what the problem is unless it's a missing or messed up brenbot.cfg setting. The only thing I think that can be as well is the FDSConfigFile and FDSLogFilePath. The server is provided for free to me by a buddy and I don't have full access over it. He told me a path to try and that failed to work. I also tried ./Data/svrcfg_cnc.ini and ./ for them but that didn't help any.

I really have no idea what the issue is to be honest. Just taking a guess. Any help is much appreciated.

If the bot is installed in the Server/BRenBot folder then the correct path would probably be '../data/svrcfg_cnc.ini'

(../ goes to the parent directory under windows)

I dont use linux myself because it wont support my wireless cards, so I am afraid I probably won't be much help. Segmentation faults are usually caused by trying to read memory you don't have access to, which suggests the bot is running in what I would call non-admin mode on windows (I have no idea if linux has such a thing even... heh)

AFAIK brenbot is the only bot that works under linux.

Sigh alright thought so. Well thanks for the help. Hopefully I can somehow manage to get it to work sometime Huh . I also got renguard SSC and tried that and the

FDSConfigFile = ../data/svrcfg_cnc.ini
FDSLogFilePath = ../

worked fine for it. Tried it with brenbot and nothing. So I guess it's not that.

Have you tried using the full path ( C:\Westwood\RenegadeFDS\Server\Data\svrcfg_cnc.ini ) instead of a relative path?

Hell no!
Give him the source - that should work.

It is very easy to get the full source from the .exe file, so why not directly release the source?

It's related to the topic because he basically told you the reason not to release the source. Namely the same reason you are not releasing yours. It's not "very easy" as you say, it's really a LOT harder than just having the source handed over to those who want it.

Do you know that running brenbot.exe extracts the whole source to disk?
