@ Crimson: polls like these will always end up in a "popularity contest". It's all a matter of voting for whom you trust and know.

lol, if I was elected then I would be discussing it with members of my clan and obviously I have told them about this - sure they are obviously going to vote for me as after all I am the only candidate who would talk directly to them and bring their ideas to the table.
You trying to tell me nobody else has voted for people because of the communities/clans they are with? rofl.
|
With that comment, you've truely shown to me that you wouldn't be the greatest for the job.
Your bringing your clan into this, not your abilites as a leader.
Your making it unfair to people who are asking the community, not a party of +1 votes for mex.
Which is all BBF is to you in regards to this.
Why does BBF have any say over any other clan?
Why should we pay attention more to them over any other clan?
Your reasons as why its ok to have your clan vote is complete bullshit and unfair, and I think it would be fair to have you D/qed from this poll.
|
Oh I'm sorry I thought this vote was open to the renegade community and not just renforums? last I checked the members of our renegade division formed a part of that community - I apologise for actually having friends in this game who think I would be the best candidate FOR THEM.
BBF doesn't and won't have "more say than any other clan" if other clans choose not to come here and vote that's up to them - as I said from the start though non-biased people are most likely to vote for EWD, he is the only candidate really known in this community for his work on improving this game and that's why this poll was decided before it even began.
The reason I would like to be on the team is because I see 3? members representative of n00bstories, 1 from Jelly and one from (ex)nonn00bs (all large communities), if importance isn't also given to smaller games where individual skill actually counts for something then this ladder will be completely irrelevant to me and pretty much any player who doesn't frequent the "top of the page" servers. I also find it hard to believe that members who aren't particularly skillfull in this game can then turn around and define what being skillful should be, I am not anywhere near the best in this game but personally believe I am the best PLAYER out of the candidates put up and for reasons listed above I think that is important in this situation.

Remember when someone said 'Wah wah Crimmy you are so biased - you should run this forum as a pure democracy!'... this is exactly why I can't.
However, I would be equally satisfied having MexPirate or EWD on the team, so at least the end result is working.
I'm the bawss.

Well another thing is, *we* are being like a bunch of politicians..
What about some1 who plays the game for fun, 1 day goes on and its all screwy to them, because they don't even know this forum exist so they have no say on something <hence, i was 1 of those people, but then joined a clan... I only knew what happens in RA2 because I wanted to know more about whats going on in developers minds then just playing it, unlike ren where I just enjoyed playing it.
(And I think EWD would make the best decisions, not basing them on his own benefits.)
Things shouldn't be based on democracy because that causes flame wars and useless political battles over the obvious just because some1 wants power/there voice heard over every1 else's, it should be based on what ALL the people think with a couple compromises of what you think would bring best results for the community w/out worrying about your or your *clans*(for say) benefits, to make every1 happy.
And voters are a major issue because most likely they will vote for who they are friends with or who sounds the most convincing, and the people who would vote for who will do the best job don't care to vote < like the US government...
What if you just brought up main issues publicly, then after you hear voice opinions, decide for yourself using what the people like...

What defines a good player? The fact that your always at the top of the points? Always winning 1 Vs. 1's?
Clan wars and top of points dont make you a great player.
Tbh, "Great Player" doesnt revolve around the word skill.
His attitude, skill, teamwork, community involvement, being a pleasure to play against/with makes a person a good player.

I think you missed my point. I'm saying that even such a minor thing as voting on 1/7th's of a committee turns into people going off topic, people voting for their friends rather than their opinions, etc. But don't worry... with the people we have in the group, I have every confidence that we WILL come up with something that really works for us.

still, creating a ladder that awards people for all their skill, teamwork, and things like that is impossible, since the things that would need recording just cant be recorded well enough to give them a rank.
I have no doubts that this ladder will be better than WOLs old ladder where all that counts is points...

Indeed. The old ladder was nasty, because if you joined your favourite server, on a game with about 15 minutes left, and the team you were on had no Air/Wf or Bar/HON then you'd make very few points (you wouldn't want to leave - it's your favourite server!) and then you'd be fined like 80 ladder points for having a low score, when you couldn't actually make a high score, because you had no vechs or inf.

I set a timer on the vote so there'd be a definite point when it closed, otherwise people would just complain about us waiting until a certain person was ahead and then closing it.
That timer is up, and EvilWhiteDragon reigns supreme.
