For about several months I sort of lost the Renegade disc, and so I couldn't play the game until I found it today. So i'm real excited and reinstalled Renegade and Renguard, but when I ran the game Renguard came up with this message:

22:07] Bad/Corrupted file data\always.dbs has been found in your renegade directory.
[22:07] You have been disconnected from RenGuard, .

So now I can't connect... Sad Anyone know what the problem is, and can i fix it? I really want to try playing this game again.

um ok, but before I saw your post I deleted the data/always.dbs from the Renegade folder. Don't know if it was a stupid mistake or not, but now it works (I think). But now there's a new message telling me if I want to install a new patch whenever I click Advanced in Multiplayer. I did that several times and restarted, but the message keeps coming up. And another message popped up:

[22:45] Warning: No WOL name found. Connecting to WOL will probably fail.

sorry for the double post, but the first one seemed too full...

I moved the folder to the desktop and dragged data/always.dbs out, and reinstalled everything. Now, when I start the game, no words or links appear, and when I use my cursor keys and enter key to maneuver to the multiplayer menu, the thing quits automatically.

I must have really f***ed it up haven't I? :/

In order: your first problem was probably because you didn't install patch 1.037. That's also why it tried downloading the patch when u went to WOL. However, that auto-download doesn't work correctly anymore.

Renguard needs to run Renegade one time to get to know your nickname, that's why it complains. So when you log into WOL andt hen log back out, quit Renegade and restart Renguard, it'll know your nick.

The no text in the menu is usually solved by a computer restart.

Dor a correct installing order and link to the patch: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=24533&start=0&rid=4 882
