No, banned does not equal a cookie, DUH. The ban is on his LOGIN so if he doesn't LOGIN then he won't see that he's banned and therefore be able to read the threads.

the cookie isn't what bans you, the login is what's banned and the cookie is what automatically logs you in when you view the site, triggering the ban...

I don't think it's out of line at all. Why should the bandwidth that I pay for go to advertising for a site whose main goal is fueled by irrational, childish, and ridiculous hatred of me?
