I installed this game and got it working on Vista 4 days ago, I've been playing it a bit, and decided to keep it cause I like C&C and third person shooters.

My problem is, I have a legit copy of Renegade. But it didn't work. So I downloaded another version of it, yes. Torrent.

It worked and I now want to try out multiplayer cause it seems pretty fun, problem is, I don't have gamespy arcade nor the westwood shared folders, can I install the WSF after installing the game, there's no option in the cd's menu.

What do I need to play this online? I have the 1037 version with a no-cd crack.

You will have to reinstall the westwood online components. Run setup like normal and then it will have the option in the menu, just don't select to install the game again.

Will I be able to use the cd-key that came with the torrent version of the game? My own game is at my parents house and I don't feel like moving myself right now.

If all goes well, I'll see you on the battlefield

NO fake cd-key works with ANY C&C.

Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

This sounds more like he just got a torrent and is trying to get his way online.

I would say just call your parents and have them give you the cd-key over the phone but I'm guessing that isn't an option for you.....

All games that use a cd key have checkers to see if its been used. All the key you get from a torrent will have been used by the other 400 people who downloaded the same one and the server blocks that key from being used online.

It's a five dollar game, just buy a copy and stop trying to use downloaded games to get online.

Viva la Resistance!
Account creation doesn't work. Blame EA.

Just pick a username and password and log in; if they aren't already in use you'll be presented with a MOTD and a nice list of servers. Rocked Over

For real?

What are the odds that I type in a correct username and password.

And even if it's correct, I've tried and the LOGIN button is still dark and unavailable.

passwords need to be at least 8 characters, which is probably why you have a dark login button.

cd-key is not the same as a disk. :/

And actually, to get technical, the password has to be exactly eight characters. The game doesn't accept more or less.

Typing a username and password that way isn't the same as guessing someone else's username. What Jonty meant was that you need to type in a username that you want for your new account and the password that you want for that account (must be 8 characters), then you press login.
Pressing login with an account that doesn't exist will automatically create the account and you will be able to play.

Voila!

What the fuck! I finally got it working and it said my serial has been banned!

How is that possible when I only used the serial for playing online once, for like a week back in 2003 when I first got the game.

If you acquired this serial in an illegal fashion, chances are someone already banned it. If you do legally own it, chances are you're playing dumb and you got banned. In the highly unlikely case your legitimate and new serial was banned, then you're going to need some serious proof, and go post here.

All wrong, 2 things:

1)if you use the torrent cd key or any other mass pirated cd key, just get gamespy which doesnt check cd keys any more.
2)XWIS doesnt even care how many keys people use, (or the limit is high) so if someone gave you there unshared serial, then you play on wol, and so could they. Its checks if the serial is valid, not if its shared (got 6 people using my serial). Only 1 thing with this is nickname management, each serial can only have 9 nicks, which is fucked up, but hey, thats xwis for ya? Whats That

Must be why I get a "Use a valid unshared serial" error with one of my three legit ones, then.
