I installed rene and apb on my new com correctly. Then when i launched either of them, it said that i need to update my direct3d version to be compatible with the scripts (3.2.3).

I think its because my directx version is 10... and they want 9.0c. So i went to download directx 9.0c and tried to install it. But it did not work (worked for my friend though Dont Get It )

So, ya, please help!! Crying or Very sad

You could always fall back to scripts 2.9.1 (last stable release before 3.0) which doesn't use directx9. Don't forget to delete the 3d8.dll and possibly shaders.dll.

3.2.3 works fine on vista for me. I tend to get the DX error if I try to run DirectX in debug mode, if you have the DirectX SDK installed ensure you have it set to use the retail packages.

You have a fresh new comp, meaning you don't have any DirectX SDK or whatever because you don't even know what it is.

+I know you have the nVidia 7600 GS, try updating your driver by downloading it from http://sg.nvidia.com/content/license/driver_license.aspx?language=en&url=htt p://sg.download.nvidia.com/Windows/158.24/158.24_forceware_winvista_32bit_intern ational.exe

For Renegade without Renguard, you can run it normally. Only with Renguard would you need to activate Admin mode and Compatibility mode.
There's also no need to download the DirectX SDK. What you need is the latest DirectX version which can be found by searching on the Microsoft website.

Renegade needs to write to the registry for your options and your nickname, so it does need admin mode.
