Actually, a 15,000 RPM hard drive would perform slower than a 10,000 drive in those circumstances. A 15k drive has faster seek times yes, but because of how desktop access patterns are, having a drive like that wouldn't benefit a gaming system. They are suited for servers.

That's a SCSI harddrive Sarcasm useless.

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

Basically, SCSI is not meant for desktop use. If you ever consider a 15k drive for your desktop, get a 10'000 RPM and DON'T get a 15k.

I had 3 of those exact hard drives in my PC for over a year. I just recently replaced them with 300GB SATA2 drives, and I can tell you that I really notice and miss the speed, but one thing I do not miss is the noise. Those drives were loud as hell - not just the whine of the drive motors as the platters were spinning, but you could actually hear the heads moving quite loudly.

They are very fast though and I could load renegade maps in under a second. If not for the noise reduction that I am enjoying, I would put them and my SCSI card back into my machine.

They are server-class drives though and not meant for "home" PC use.
