I'm located in Sydney Australia and until now I've been gettin 220-250ish ping in almost all US servers with my 24000k connection. However recently Renegade has been showing me RED ping circles and numbers of 250+ in the advanced game listing therefore giving me 400+ ping ingame. There has been no change done by my isp and I still download at just less that 2mb a sec so my speed hasnt been affected at all... this is only happening in Ren, all my other games run fine. Has anyone ever had this issue or know anything that can be done?

Edit: lol shit wrong section wasn't paying attention, my bad

Could run a virusscan with updates, check firewall logs. If that isn't the problem then the internet could be "busy at the moment" meaning that it could be over in a day. I have had it before, and Lurker had something simmilair last time.

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

Ermm, if you live in Australia, and get about 200-250 ping, be happy. Most AS/NZ players I know get at least 300.

Yea I know I got it lucky for where I'm at but this isn't normal because atm I'm getting 400+ ping without my isp doing anything to my net.

Edit: JP I know I have no viruses because I reformatted this morning.

ALL servers are affected, I can't play in euro servers because I'm australian and I'll get 400 ping no matter how good my connection is, however I can play in US servers well with 200-250 ping but now I get 400 there too. My server listings usually consist of yellow circles with 163 ping beside them for US servers but now they are 240 giving me 400 ingame

NB: The pings on the server listings page are not accurate, some the sites which were used to calculate it are offline so they are always higher than the real ping. (Something like that, either way they are inaccurate)

Orca questions:

1) You using Router?
2) Cable, DSL, or Sat?
3) Changed virus programs?
4) Running ad-ware or spybot etc.?
5) Windows XP Pro, Home, Vista?

Based on those answers I may have more questions.

Me:

1) No just using my Netcomm NB5 ADSL2+ modem connected straight into my ethernet socket of my laptop, no router.
2) ADSL2+ (24000k down/1000k up)
3) I don't use antivirus
4) Nope
5) Windows XP Pro

Edit: Wyld here are some screenies

In all American servers I used to see Yellow circles followed by 163 ping in the advanced listings, this is what I now see.

This is my current download speed, same as before this problem started.

I realise that I'm not really downloading at 2megs like my connection says so, but that is because I'm too far from the exchange to recieve the full download speed but that was never an issue for Ren.

Edit 2: Just installed my copy of Norton and this is what I got after a FULL system scan.

Now uninstalled it...

norton's still there. You'll need to reformat your PC to get rid of it.

I'm insanely jealous over your connection speed, I can only get 1.3 through the heap of a structure that's occasioanly mistaken for a telephone exchange.

I'm 2.5km away from my closest exchange. I just don't understand why my ingame ping just went up for no reason...

Could be your ISP getting overloaded... which isn't something they'll admit to.

gamemodding - what sort of an area do you live in?

If you know anyone close to you with the same ISP you could install Ren there, ( or just plug in the laptop Smile) see if gives the same ping. If it doesn't then you know that it's not the ISP. ( Or at least just your IP) If it does then somethings bigger going on.

After uninstalling norton, using the "Norton removal tool" (About twenty different times, with different versions that their techincal support website kept linking me to), reinstalling (repairing) windows, and still finding it there, I come to the conclusion it's still there.
