Ok...
You need to download this tool: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=19368&start=0&rid=2 0637

Then follow the directions included, if this doesn't help, please say so.

Renguard is a wonderful initiative

There seem to be some issues with the TFD serial fix. I'll try to get them fixed ASAP.

In the mean time, you can delete woldata.key from your rene dir and change the registry entry:
HKeyLocalMachine\Software\Westwood\Renegade\Serial using regedit, to a numbers only versionof your serial(so just remove the (-) signs and type it in there) that "should" work.

I had the same problem, and tried to follow the way you mentioned. After I deleted the WOLdata.key and changed the key, when I open game.exe (which is renguard), it pop up saying hashing serial failed or something like that. However, when I try to use game2.exe(the original game.exe) it was able to pass through the XCC.

So what I turned out doing was to copy the WOLdata.key that was from my laptop(installed from the same DVD, with the same cdkey), and also changed the registry like you mentioned above, and problem solved:).

The strange thing is a few days ago when I was updating my renguard on my laptop from 1.03 to 1.0322, nothing was wrong and I was able to play right after. Today I install a fresh new copy of TFD to my desktop and then upgrade to 1.02 TFD and afterwards the renguard 1.0322. And this problem came up.

So to me it sounds like it is either the 1.02 TFD problem or the renguard 1.0322 problem.

Hope you'll have that figured out so that I don't need to do this every single time.

The problem is currently the renguard installer. Ill build one without the serial fix(because it b0rked right now).

I deleted WOLData.key and changed the key - now i get the error message "Error creating hash of Renegade serial, try re-installing renegade"

The update installer also seems to set the language to english.

How can i set it back to german manually?

I am thoroughly ticked off as I see this happen too often. Will someone please answer ANGEL above Thumbs Up . You guys are not even helping him, you're just leaving him hanging, he and alot of other people you leave hanging need answers, hell, you don't even explain it to them thoroughly, you do it half assed as if some of these guys are supposed to know the jargon, you guys are getting lazy when it comes to "helping" it seems. Many of us can't get in for the same reason. I have already tried talking to black hand support on n00bstories IRC and nothing. They don't even answer and I have waited for at least an hour on numerous occasions. What the heck do you plan to do about all this?

It seems like the new installer doesn't make the first decade registry serial change anymore, in other words if u reinstall Renegade and then reinstall renguard, u won't have this problem anymore.

That's what I understood... I agree the registry solution wasn't n00b proof.

The installer on www.renguard.com for the latest version has been updated so it no longer messes with the TFD registry settings.

Use at own risk.

n the mean time, you can delete woldata.key from your rene dir and change the registry entry:
HKeyLocalMachine\Software\Westwood\Renegade\Serial using regedit, to a numbers only versionof your serial(so just remove the (-) signs and type it in there) that "should" work."

1. delete woldata.key from your renegade directory
2. go in start menu to 'run'
3. type in the box that shows up 'regedit'
4. scroll in the registry to HKeyLocalMachine\Software\Westwood\Renegade\Serial
5. It will have an amount of '-', replace these with your renegade serial
